ANOTHER LARGE SIZE MASS FLOWMETER FROM ABB
Ideal For Bulk Fluid Transfers and Large Throughput Plants
ABB Kent-Taylor has further extended its capability in the large mass flow meter market with the launch of its ABB K15000 100mm/4-inch MassMeter. With a flow range of 0-10,000 kilograms per minute and a mass measuring accuracy of ± 0.15% plus zero stability, the new meter is ideal for tackling the high-capacity flow rates required for bulk fluid transfers, oil refineries and large throughput chemical and petrochemical process plants.
In spite of its large flow range capacity, the ABB K15000 with its novel cylindrical shape is significantly smaller than comparable meters on the market and, therefore,
takes up less space on the plant. It is aimed primarily at net oil transfer operations in the Middle East, South America and the Far East, although wide interest from the food processing industry is also expected, particularly where tanker loading and unloading of bulk fluids are involved.
With the higher accuracy density measurement capability of the larger mass meters, the new ABB K15000 also brings superior reliability and performance with minimal pressure drop to applications such as the control of percentage solids and concentrations.
ABB-KT/504 Continued.....
The meter sensor is housed in a stainless steel enclosure protected to IP65/NEMA 4X, making the instrument suitable for hose-down operations.
In line with many other ABB MassMeters, the new K15000 instrument features the patented ‘B’ tube design which overcomes many of the problems associated with other Coriolis mass flowmeters - typically their vulnerability in vibration-prone, hostile environments and the risk of failures due to fatigue and stress corrosion.
Users will also be able to take advantage of the recently-introduced ‘Remote Diagnostics Access’ on-line computer facility which provides maintenance engineering for ABB mass flowmeters down the telephone line. Using modem links between the customer’s installed meter and their office PCs, ABB factory engineers are able to interrogate the flowmeter remotely and provide instant diagnostic help and/or service.
Offering significant savings on service call-out charges, ‘Remote Diagnostics Access’ is the latest enhancement to ABB’s ‘Screwdriver’ communications and diagnostics software package which incorporates the most advanced Windows-based set of mass flowmeter software tools available.
The new ABB K15000 MassMeter complements the recently-introduced ABB K4000 80mm (3-inch) meter with a typical flow range of 0-2000 kg/min. It comes with the associated ABB Series 1200 transmitter which provides as standard all the built-in controls and monitoring functions required - for example, PID control, batch control and smart density monitoring.
