Engagement Officer

Post Title:Children’s Centre Engagement Officer
Job Purpose:Ensure that our Children’s Centre “reach” target is met, working collaboratively with other settings’ staff and RLA staff, as appropriate, by encouraging and empowering families to access Children’s Centre and Academy services.
To support families with children under 5 where additional needs have been identified and offer evidence based interventions in their own homes and appropriate settings. These families will often be supported through the GIR, and other support processes, initiated and coordinated by this post.
Responsible To:RLA Children’s Centre Manager
Liaising With:Assistant Headteacher, Members of the Children’s Centre Team; RLA staff, and visitors to RLA.
Hours of Work:37 hours per week, full year.
Grade of Post:Grade E (NJC 22 – 25) / Salary:£20,661 - £22,658 pro rata

MAIN /CORE DUTIES /
  • Work flexibly as part of a wider team to ensure Children’s Centre targets are met. Work
within the ethos and aims of our Children’s Centre and to the overall vision of RLA.
  • To build and maintain positive relationships with the community, local people and their
families.
  • To actively encourage local parents to access RLA and Children’s Centre services.

  • To work cooperatively and collaboratively with Children’s Centre staff and with wider
partners, to ensure good or better practice.
  • To undertake and support family assessments and referrals as appropriate.

  • To help identify specific issues facing families and bring those issues to the Children’s
Centre Manager for allocation to the appropriate service.
  • To promote, develop and maintain community involvement in our Children’s Centre.

  • To promote the services of RLA and Children’s Centre in the community and within the
locality, and to other organisations.
  • To hold a family support case load of families needing allocated by the Children’s Centre
Manager
  • To support the development of Children’s Centre groups, co-facilitate groups and encourage
and motivate people to organise their own groups and activities.
  • To encourage and support parents to access childcare provision.

  • To maintain confidentiality at all times, unless the safety and well-being of children are a
matter of concern.
  • To contribute to team meetings and to the planning processes.

  • To prepare and maintain appropriate and accurate records and case files.

  • To participate in appropriate training and development programmes as directed by RLA.
  • To contribute to our Engagement Strategy across RLA and Children’s Centre.

Please Note-
As a term of your contract of employment, there may be a need, from time to time, to vary
the hours of work and require employees to work outside the range of normal working
arrangements, i.e. evenings / Saturdays.
This would only be utilised in order to meet the needs of the service and employees
would be fully consulted and given reasonable notice of any proposed changes.

Participate in monitoring and evaluating provision in line with agreed procedures.
MANAGEMENT INFORMATION AND ADMINISTRATION
Produce appropriate and timely reports for various audiences, egAdvisory Board, external agencies
Ensure all regulatory paperwork is up-to-date and adhere to health and safety requirements.
COMMUNICATIONS
Ensure that all communications demonstrate the values of the Children’s Centre & Academy.
Attend meetings as required.
Contribute to the development of effective links with the community.
Contribute to effective systems of communications.
MARKETING & LIAISON
Attend meetings and functions as required to support the delivery of the role, ensuring the values of the Academy are met.
MANAGEMENT OF RESOURCES (OTHER THAN PEOPLE)
Maintain existing resources and explore opportunities to develop or incorporate new resources from sources inside and outside the Academy.
Ensure that RLA’s environment contributes to safe, successful and effective learning.
CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY
Play a full part in the life of the Academy community, supporting its distinctive mission and encouraging staff and children to follow this example.
Promote actively the Academy’s corporate policies.
Comply with the Academy’s health and safety policy and undertake risk assessments as appropriate.
