This worksheet provides troubleshooting tips for best use of ScanIt. Please post this guide beside each scanner. For additional help, refer to the ScanIt Installation and User Guide.

Quick Scanner Checklist

Any scanner that can reliably scan the image natively at 300 DPI or above can be used. In general, no scanner settings are required to be modified. Check the following list for easy fixes:

General

·  Scanner is properly connected and turned on prior to scanning. The green light indicates "on."

·  Scanner is properly installed.

Paper

·  Use white, 20 lb. bond paper —not recycled (which can be darker and more difficult to erase).

·  Don’t photocopy bubble sheets—use fresh paper.

·  Print out extra bubble sheets to have ready when testing.

·  Avoid any crumpled paper.

Form or Read Errors

·  In the event of poor reads or forms not recognized, ensure that the paper guides were used and the forms are feeding straight.

·  Check that forms are properly loaded. It does not matter which end goes in first as long as the ‘bubble side’ of the answer sheet is facing down (or up), depending on scanner requirements. The page can be rotated in any direction as long as the “business” side is facing the correct way.

Printer Settings

Schoolnet Assessment Admin is designed to be used with a wide variety of printers. Generally, any printer that can accurately print the answer sheet as seen in the PDF can be used.

Make sure you have the following settings made:

·  Page Scaling = None (or Actual Size)

·  Auto-Rotate and Center is checked

·  Zoom = 100%
