Location
You will be based in both Central Promenade and Donard Murray Supported Living Services in Newcastle, Co Down. You may be required to work in any of the other Autism Initiatives service locations as requested by line management.
Line Manager
Your line manager will be the Team Leader in Donard Murray.
Purpose of Job
The role is primarily focused on ensuring the required cleaning specification in Donard Murray and Central Promenade Supported Living Services as detailed within this Job Description and as requested by line management and ensuring that these tasks are completed to a high standard.
Main Duties, Responsibilities and Objectives:
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Communal Areas – main entrance, corridors and stairwells:
Vacuum / sweep the communal areas.
Mop all communal areas – corridors and stairs and landings.
Clean bannisters and rails.
Keep main entrance areas clear of rubbish (external).
Clean internal glazing.
Toilets– communal:
Scrub clean toilet bowls and seat and handles.
Scrub clean sinks, splash backs and over flows.
Spot clean doors, walls etc.
Sweep and wash toilet floors.
Replenish toilet rolls, hand towels, soap etc. when required.
Empty all rubbish/sanitary bins.
Ensure air freshener is available in toilets.
Shower Room Ground Floor:
Clean shower curtain.
Clean wall tiles to hand height inside and out.
Clean shelving.
Sweep and wash floor.
Kitchen:
Empty rubbish bins and recycling bin(s).
Clean floor as required.
Tidy and clean work tops as required.
Clean microwave / fridge as required.
Put away clean dishes.
Wash dishes if required.
Laundry Room (Donard Murray)
Sweep and mop floor.
Clean down surfaces.
Cleaning materials:
Ensure adequate supply of required cleaning materials.
To replenish cleaning materials speak to your line manager who will complete the relevant purchase order form – only the approved suppliers to be used.
COMMUNICATION
  • Liaise with your line manager in relation to any queries you have and in relation to your ongoing training and development.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT
  • Participate in regular management, support and development sessions with your line manager as required.
  • To effectively manage work load and show proper time management.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
  • Ensure that the potential hazards in all areas are assessed and that action is taken to minimise any identified risk.
  • Report any potential hazardswithout delay.
  • Ensure you use any health and safety equipment that is provided.
  • Ensure that any equipment used, is stored and maintained in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Report any concerns and / or faults with equipment, and check all equipment before each use.
  • Ensure Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Observing Health and Safety regulations.

GENERAL

  • You must not, at any time, act in such a way as to bring the organisation into disrepute.
  • To be proactive in team working, co-operating with other Autism Initiatives staff and clients in maintaining a harmonious working environment and professional working relationships.
  • Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested, relative to the objective of the post.
  • Confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Maintain your personal skills and development as required and attend staff training as requested or directed by line management (there will be a number of mandatory training courses which you will need to participate in within the first six months of employment). Please note that you will be expected to complete and fully participate in continuous mandatory training as required.

Knowledge: / Proven working knowledge of facilitating cleaning specifications in shared accommodation environment. / Already have a good working knowledge of COSHH and infection control.
Already received COSHH training.

The ability to work using your own initiative.
Good time management skills and the ability to prioritise. / Already have a good working knowledge of Health and Safety in shared accommodation environments.

Hours10 hours per week (split between two localities)

Rate of Pay:7.26 per hour – to be reviewed before April 2017.

Leave:20 Days Annual Leave Pro rata

Bank Holidays:10 Days per year pro rata– to be taken as they fall.
