Staff Position Description
KCI employs a Manager, Assistant Manager(s), Lifeguards, Snack Bar Attendants, Kenilworth Swim Team Head Coach and Kenilworth Swim Team Assistant Coaches during the summer swimming season and a part-time Administrator year round. The following position descriptions outline the desired attributes, requirements, and duties for KCI staff members Kenilworth Club as of January 2017.

Lifeguard
Lifeguards ensure the safety of members and staff enjoying KCI facilities and support the Manager and Assistant Manager in maintenance and cleanliness duties. Lifeguards should prepare to be alert during shifts and to make member safety a priority. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented, great team players, and eager to support KCI Managers in creating an outstanding environment for members and staff.
Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years old
- Current, valid Red Cross Advanced Life Saving Certificate, Water Safety Instructor or YMCA Life Saving Certificate, First Aid, and CPR prior to beginning employment date
- Proper equipment, including a whistle and KCI-furnished lifeguard shirt and red swim suit
- Kenilworth Swim Team participation/enrollment
Duties
- Ensure the safety of swimmers, club users, and all staff members working
- Attend lifeguard trainings and staff meetings
- Check and followthe KCI lifeguard work schedule, finding lifeguard replacements promptly if necessary, notifying Manager or Assistant Manager of shift changes, remaining at the facility until replacement reports to work, and arriving to work on time and prepared
- Follow and enforce KCI Pool Rules and safety procedures at all times
- While on duty:
- Perform Lifeguard safety duties
- Be alert and aware
- Store personal belongings, including cell phones, in staff break room lockers
- The following are prohibited on duty: visiting with other employees or guests; personal phone calls, texts, and app use; use of KCI recreational equipment
- While at reception:
- Greet KCI members and guests upon arrival
- Introduce yourself and ask for member information, complete sign-in, and collect and secure guest fees
- Report guest issues to the Manager or Assistant Manager
- Support the Manager and Assistant Manager in maintaining the cleanliness of the club grounds, including the pools, bathhouses, parking lot, clubhouse, pump house, pavilion, picnic grounds, and tennis courts
- Clean bath houses, clubhouse bathrooms, and clubhouse windows daily
- Clean Adult Room daily, including mopping, clearing and cleaning table and counter tops, and emptying trash cans
- Check snack bar at the end of the day to ensure that the Snack Bar Attendant has completed all clean-up tasks and food storage properly
- Empty garbage cans into dumpster at least once daily and as often as needed
- Keep decks free of litter and hose regularly
- Pick up and store “lost and found” items and maintain the storage area
- Reposition, tidy and/or move pool chairs, tables, and umbrellas
- Maintain facility yard and flower beds, including picking up sticks and trash, watering the flower beds, and pulling weeds
- Support the Manager and Assistant Manager in maintaining the cleanliness and chemical integrity of the pool:
- Check pH and chlorine levels and notify managers of unsafe levels
- Skim the pool for debris, clean out pump and skimmer baskets, etc.
- When necessary, support Snack Bar Attendees with snowball machine and grill operation
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Manager and/or Assistant Manager

- $8.50/hour (no prior experience)
- $9.00/hour (1 year experience)
- $9.50/hour (2 years experience)
- $10.00/hour (3 or more years experience)
