MINUTES OF COMMON COUNCIL MEETING

MARCH 20, 2014

7:00 p.m. Mayor Judy Talbot called the regular council meeting to order at the City Council Chambers. The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence honoring all individuals that have or are protecting our freedom. Minutes taken by Administrator/Clerk-Treasurer DeJongh.


Council members present: Floyd Hickethier, Mark Nodolf, Bonnie Selmer, Steve Turany & Rusty Sammon. Absent: Glen Logan.

Guests present: Monique Westaby, Mark Larson & Brian Hurt.

Motion Hickethier, seconded Sammon to accept the agenda as printed. Carried 5 ayes, 1 absent.

Motion Selmer, Seconded Sammon to approve the regular council meeting minutes of March 6, 2014. Carried 5 ayes, 1 absent.

Nodolf reported on Finance Committee Mtg. held earlier. Committee met with Jack Bresina & Chuck Eslinger to discuss a possible lot 1 subdivision out at the airport and the possible rezoning of the parcel to Planned Industrial Development District. Committee also met in closed session to discuss the performance of a city employee.

Police Chief Brian Hurt provided a department update along with a summary report of the cases handled by his dept. in February. All officers are currently re-certified to carry the Tazer. TAC 10 records management software went live county-wide on Feb 26, 2014.

Motion Nodolf, Seconded Turany to approve a Memorandum of Understanding with the WPPA to extend Ross Rubenzer’s probationary period up to 6 months. Carried 5 ayes, 1 absent.

Motion Hickethier, Seconded Selmer to approve proposal from John Wisnewski to do the mowing/trimming at the Mill Yard Park for 2014 for $230/time not to exceed $5,000. Carried 5 ayes 1 absent.

Motion Nodolf, Seconded Selmer to approve proposed Engineering Services Agreement with Cedar Corp. for 6th & 7th St. Reconstruction Project. Fee not to exceed $104,930. Carried 5 ayes, 1 absent.

Next Chippewa Valley Cities Meeting will be held in Durand on March 31, 2014. City Officials interested in attending should contact DeJongh by Monday 3/24/14.

Spring Election is set for April 1, 2014. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Appliance and Electronics Drop-off is set for April 12, 2014 at the City Shop 8am- 10am.

Special Garbage day is set for April 17, 2014.

Motion Selmer, Seconded Nodolf to approve bills totaling $18,815.66. Roll Call Vote Carried 4 ayes, Logan absent, Turany abstained.

Mayor Talbot announced that there was going to be a Galster Family Benefit at the Elementary School on Sunday from 11:00 am to 4:00 p.m..

Motion Nodolf, Seconded Hickethier to adjourn. Carried 5 ayes, 1 absent.
