Grab a bargain compost bin and start composting now
The Lincolnshire Waste Partnership has teamed up withgetcomposting.comto provide a fantastic ‘buy one, get one half price’ offer on home compost bins.
Composting your garden and kitchen waste will provide afree supply of nutritious soil conditioner to help your garden bloom next year. Adding compost encourages better growth in flowers, fruit and vegetables.
It also helps to reduce carbon emissions, and cuts down the amount of waste sent to landfill.
All you need for good quality compost is mixture of ingredients. Ideally it should be a 50/50 mix of green garden waste, vegetable peelings, old flowers, grass cuttings, and ‘browns’, garden prunings, coffee grounds, tissues and paper napkins, shredded cardboard and even vacuum cleaner dust.
Victoria Frodsham, sustainability education officer said, “Making your own compost is a great way of transforming ordinary household waste into something very useful. It also cuts down the amount of waste going into bins and ultimately landfill sites. The great offer price for these compost bins means that most households should be able to start composting.”
To encourage households to home compost, Lincolnshire County Council, in partnership withgetcomposting.com, are offering reduced price compost bins, from as little as £16 (RRP £39), for a 220 litre compost bin, (buy a second bin for only £8.00), or £19 (RRP £49), for a 330 litre bin,(buy a second bin for only £9.50).

CIVILIAN PARKING ENFORCEMENT

Lincolnshire County Council is taking over responsibility for on-street enforcement of parking from the police. The same contractor that will patrol the off-street car parks, will also be issuing parking tickets for on-street parking offences.

Remember to check for any restrictions across the district when you park, to avoid getting a £50 or £70 fine.

If you’re not sure what some of the signs and lines mean, look online at the link to the Parking Enforcement Procedures manual this is applicable to on and off-street parking.

CELEBRATE WEST LINDSEY’S UNSUNG HEROES

The spotlight will shine on the people who make things happen in West Lindsey community.

West Lindsey District Council are to launch their first ever Community Awards and want to recognise people who devote time and effort into making their neighbourhood a better place.

They are the people who seek no reward for their outstanding effort.

Do you know someone who deserves to be praised?

If so we want to hear from you so we can celebrate their great work.

They might be a volunteer, a carer, a person who shows great courage, who inspires others, a fund raiser or maybe a great neighbour.

All you need to do is nominate the person you think ought to be recognised and tell us why.

The categories are:
