Directions: You will spend approximately two weeks completing the following Adobe Illustrator learning activities. At the conclusion of each activity, you will print, and show instructor for a check for each completed Illustrator learning activity.
Before you begin:
Make a new folder in your Computer Graphics folder, titled: _ Illustrator_Activities (ex. jb_Illustrator_Activities), you will save all activities, graphics, fonts, and supporting files in this folder
Activity 1: Creating and Editing Text
· View Video Lesson 1: Text
· Document Settings: Size 8.5” x 11”, CMYK
· Download New Fonts (www.DaFont.com)
· Type Your Name (First, Last, or Both)
· Create Outlines, Change Size, Stroke and Fill Properties
Activity 2: Downloading Vector Clip Art
· View Video Lesson 3: Importing & Editing Clip Art
· Document Settings: Size 5” x 7”, CMYK
· Use Google to search “Free Vector Art” (www.vecteezy.com)
· Download and Save Vector Art files to your Illustrator Activities Folder (minimum of two images)
· Change color, group/ungroup, expand, apply new stroke and fill properties, combine, add, subtract elements
Activity 3: Holiday Greeting
· Document Settings: Size 5” x 7”, CMYK
· Download your favorite holiday themed font (save font file in your folder)
· Download a minimum of three vector holiday themed graphics
· Apply text, stroke, and fill properties
· Apply Principles and Elements of Design
Activity 5: Pen Tool (Illustrator Classroom in a Book)
· Copy the Adobe Illustrator Lesson 5: Using the Pen Tool files to your activities folder.
· Complete the all parts of the lesson
Activity 6: Templates and Tracing (Vectorizing)
· View Video 6: Vectorizing Graphics
· Document Settings: Size 5” x 7”, CMYK
· Google to search for your favorite carton character and save this image in your activities folder
· In Illustrator, place the graphic in as a template in your canvas area (File èPlace)
· Your graphic will appear as a watermark on it’s own locked layer
· Utilize layers to organize your work
· Utilize pen tool and drawing tools with stroke and fill properties to replicate your chosen cartoon characters
· Hide the template layer when complete
