Context

For the duration of the term we have studied the evolution of Pop Music and the pioneers who have transformed and evolved this genre.

Task

Select a Pop song from one of the Pop Pioneers studied this term, and present a polished vocal/instrumental performance to the class. Hint: select a song you feel you can best perform rather than your favourite.

Consider:

Musical elements: Dynamics, Tempo, Instrumentation (vocal range, instrumental experience), presentation style and techniques (vocal and instrumental)

Artists to select from: Jerry Lee Lewis, Aretha Franklin, The Beatles, Deep Purple, Queen, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, ABBA, Elvis Presley, the Bee Gees, Other- (with Mr Hodgkinson’s) approval

Conditions

o  Class will learn a variety of works and negotiate pieces for performance

o  You must individually practise and prepare your part

o  Class will be given curriculum time to rehearse so it is expected that you will demonstrate a high level of self discipline, commitment and respect during the process

o  Assessment will be performed in front of an audience

o  Maximum of four people per group.
