Make It True (30 minutes)
Before the children arrive, set up for class by gathering the 2’s / PK Worship DVD, your computer or TV to play the DVD and instruments. While the children are entering the classroom the worship DVD should be playing and a volunteer should be leading the worship. This will help engage the kids as soon as they enter the room, and will help with separation anxiety. Let one or two teachers lead worship in the room while another teacher greets parents and kids at the door. The motions for the verses are provided if you find them helpful, but we encourage you just to dance around in worship.
1. Worship (20 minutes)
Chose 3-4 songs from the Worship DVD to be played through the computer or TV located in your classroom. The words for the songs will be shown on the DVD and hand motions can be found online at
2. Snack & Video
Have children sitting in chairs near TV / Computer so that once they are settled in their seats with their snack they will be able to focus their attention on the below video while eating their snack.
Play this week’s video from “Wonder, Look at God’s Story” DVD. Be sure to click on the BIBLE ICON next to the words (and not the words themselves). This will allow you to skip the introduction skit and take you directly to the Bible Story.
3. Memory Verse
LEADER: Are you ready to practice our memory verse together? It helps us remember just how much God loves us!
For God(index finger pointing up)
so loved (give yourself a great, big hug)
the world (spread arms in a wide circle)
that He gave His only Son (cradle hands to rock baby)
John 3:16 (open your hands like a book)
“Let’s do it together. Are you ready?”
Do the verse with the kids two or three times.
4. Prayer
“God, we want all our friends and family to know that Jesus wants to be their friend forever. Help us to tell everyone we know that Jesus is God’s Son and He wants to be their friend forever. Amen.”
Make It Fun (10 minutes)
1. Response Picture Cards
What You Need: Memory verse card and crayons
What You Do: Review the memory verse together before turning to the back of the memory verse card. Review what the children have learned about today’s story while they color the picture provided.
What You Say: “Remember, when we love people, we love God. How do we love God? [Bottom Line] Love God with all your heart.”
2. My Special Heart Card
What You Need: Construction paper, heart stickers, crayons or markers
What You Do: Encourage the children to think of a few people that need some love. Maybe it’s a sick friend, a relative, or a lonely neighbor. Maybe it’s even a brother or sister. Make some special Valentine’s Day cards for these people. As you decorate the cards together, talk about how God wants us to love everyone.
What You Say: “There are SO many other ways we can love people. And when we love people, we love God. How do you love God? [Bottom Line] Love God with all your heart!”
3. Heart to Heart
What You Need: Large cutout red hearts, masking tape
What You Do: Tape the hearts in a row on the floor. Begin by placing them very close together. Show the children how to begin at the first heart and say each word of the Bible verse as they walk, tiptoe, jump, touch with their hand—whatever motion you want them to do—from heart to heart. Each time everyone says the verse, separate the hearts a few more inches to make it more challenging to go from heart to heart. Continue playing as long as the children are interested.
What You Say: “Let’s see if we can say this month’s Bible verse together while we jump! ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.’ John 3:16”
