At the recent meeting in Calgary

http://www.asphalt-technology.com/Calgary2000.htm it was suggested by Dr.

David Jones that BBR and DSR should be combined to form a single master

curve. This analysis has been implemented in the RHEA software

http://www.abatech.com/Rhea.htm. The analysis involves several

inter-conversions but appears to be comparable to torsion bar/DSR data sets

that we have. This functionality will become a standard feature of the RHEA

software.

I'm not sure how this master curve relationship could be used but it appears to

have promise. Perhaps it could be implemented as a better fatigue prediction

tool? This would be with regard to the binder's contribution to fatigue

resistant properties of course. Sounds like a good research paper. It would be

nice to see the correlations to PAV DSR's to this master curve to APA fatigue to

roadway fatigue performance.

I had planned on attending that meeting but couldn't get away. Is there a

proceedings or journal being done for that meeting? The presentation files in

.pdf form on http://www.asphalt-technology.com/Calgary2000.htm are nicley done.

We are planning a Journal which will be published around the turn of the

year. We will also be adding some of the missing presentations to the

web-site in the next couple of weeks. Also, please check out the London

the software addition is to provide users of asphalt technology with a tool

to help them understand binder properties in a user friendly manner.
