TASK 1: At an International Conference
OBJECTIVE: at the end of the task, students will be able to exchange personal information by filling out business cards.
TYPE OF TASK: information gap
PROCEDURE:
1. Tell students to imagine they are at an international conference. They will pretend they are someone else and don´t know anybody there. Their task is to meet at least five people at the conference by asking them personal information.
2. They will receive a card with information about themselves and 5 more blank cards to fill out. (Worksheet 1)
3. Students choose one of these “new friends” and introduce him/her to the teacher.
4. Students have to exchange information and show active listening while their partner is talking by using non-verbal cues or fillers such as Really? Wow! Or any other phrase that expresses understanding, e.g. I see…Uh huh…
