Topic / Still Life- / Cities – Printmaking
Cities Continued and focus on portfolio building of all work this year.
Summary of Content / Pupils will be encouraged to think about how ‘Still life’ could be explored and thought about in terms of Fine Art. This 12 week structured course will guide pupils through various skills and techniques where they are encouraged to always work from real life objects or their own photography.
Here pupils will learn how to annotate their work and be critical and selective with their own ideas and how to document their thought process in a creative way.
Pupils will use artist and art movements such as Cubism in order to analyse certain styles, techniques and subject matters and this in turn with reinforce their own thinking and ideas.
Pupils will use a variety of media including:
-Photography pencil, charcoal and chalk, soft pastel, watercolours, ink and wash, paint and ink.
The following techniques will be covered:
-Measuring and scaling objects from life.
-Shading techniques
-Creating your own composition.
-The use of light to create atmosphere.
- / This module is aimed to get pupils to draw and look at the world outside of the art room. They will be given specific tasks each week to experiment and try new printmaking techniques. Pupils will be encouraged to always take and work from their own photography or work from real life. Working towards a final outcome for trials, pupils are to create a personal and well considered piece under exam conditions.
This unit will reinforce the importance of students experimenting and developing their own ideas. Any written annotation or artist research must be appropriate and contain specialist terminology within the context of their work.
A range of printmaking techniques will be covered including the following:
-Collographs
-Linocuts
-Intaglio printmaking
-Mono-prints
Assessment / A4 sketchbooks and portfolio work- ongoing / Trial 3 hours
One ‘final’ considered piece this could be a drawing/ painting/ sculpture/ textile artwork.
