A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND AND CONGRATULATE THE BANK OF CLARENDON FOR CELEBRATING SEVENTY YEARS OF STEADFAST SERVICE TO CLARENDON COUNTY AND TO ACCLAIM THE SAFETY AND SECURITY THE BANK HAS PROVIDED ITS CUSTOMERS.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to recognize and extol the Bank of Clarendon for the seventy years of service it has provided to the Clarendon County community; and
Whereas, the Bank of Clarendon was formed as a cash depository in 1932 during the depth of the Depression and was founded by F. C. Reedy, T. H. Stukes, and R. R. DuRant; and
Whereas, the Bank of Clarendon was formed to allow merchants a place to do commerce without having to leave town. The bank’s primary purpose today continues to be serving local merchants and providing them local banking options; and
Whereas, the Bank of Clarendon provides safe and sound service to the Clarendon County Community under the guidance of the current officers and board of directors; and
Whereas, the current officers are William O. Buyck, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer; A. C. English, President and Cashier; James Barry Ham, Executive Vice President and Senior Credit Officer; and W. Louis Griffith, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Other officers include Rondal J. Wall, Diane K. McCord, Stacey R. McInnis, Rose Buyck Newton, Elizabeth C. Barrineau, William O. Buyck, Jr., Thomas D. Ham, Thomas M. Geddings, and Libby R. Durrenberger; and
Whereas, the members of the board of directors who diligently serve the community are H. P. Bozard, Frances Reedy Buyck, Mark W. Buyck, Jr., William O. Buyck, A. C. English, Paul E. Floyd, Jr., James Barry Ham, Rose Buyck Newton, and George W. Stukes; and
Whereas, the Bank of Clarendon commemorated its seventieth anniversary with a party attended by one hundred and nine people who had been customers of the bank for more than fifty years. Customers reflected on memories of the bank practices, such as closing at one p.m. each day to process the deposits and checks and giving a loaf of bread for each new account during the Depression; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are pleased to recognize the Bank of Clarendon, its officers, and its board of directors for the seventy years of service they have provided to the Clarendon County community. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives commend and congratulate the Bank of Clarendon for celebrating seventy years of steadfast service to Clarendon County and to acclaim the safety and security the bank has provided for its customers.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Bank of Clarendon in Manning.
