DISSERTATION

“TheCurious Life of the Corpse in Nineteenth-Century English Literature and Culture.”
Professor Hilary Schor, director; Professors James Kincaid and Philippa Levine, committee members. This project offers a social history of the corpse in early- to mid-nineteenth century England. This social history is extracted from the corpse narratives created in novels, medical discourse, parliamentary debates, and coroners’ inquests.
