A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Virgil Lorenzo White, Sr.
WHEREAS, Virgil Lorenzo White, Sr. graduated from Central Colored School and went on to attend radio school. During World War II, he trained as a mechanic and was stationed in Italy. He met and married his loving wife, Marjorie Laine White and together they celebrated 69 years of marriage; and
WHEREAS, Virgil Lorenzo White, Sr. served as one of the first African American Vice Squad Detectives with the former Louisville Police Department and was the proprietor of the Black Bull Liquor Store; and
WHEREAS, Virgil Lorenzo White, Sr. was preceded in death by his son, Ralph White, Sr. He was survived by his wife, Marjorie Laine White; his three beautiful children, Virgil White, Jr. and his wife, Brenda; Beverly and her husband, Herbert Potter, and Deborah White; his 11 grandchildren; his 18 adorable great-grandchildren; and his two delightful great-great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Virgil Lorenzo White, Sr. was a member of the First Congregational Methodist Church in Louisville, Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, Virgil Lorenzo White, Sr. departed this life on February 10, 2013, at the age of 91 years, and his passing is deeply mourned by his loving family, friends, and community who cherish their wonderful memories of this remarkable gentleman;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
âSection 1. The Senate expresses its most profound sense of sorrow and proffers its sincerest condolences to the family, friends, and community of Virgil Lorenzo White, Sr.
âSection 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in honor and loving memory of Virgil Lorenzo White, Sr.
âSection 3. The Clerk of the Senate is directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Senator Gerald A. Neal for delivery.
