Walcott PTA Minutes
The January 12, 2015, Walcott PTA meeting was held in the Walcott School IMC at 4 p.m.
9 members were present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The December 2014 Secretary’s Report was given. Approved by Patty Clare; seconded by Missy Ware.
The Treasurer’s report was given. We have a current balance of $19,418.81. Approved by Missy Ware; seconded by Jeanne Bernick.
Staff Requests - Mrs. Toppler will be having a Battle of the Books cookie party (there are 102 students participating) and she requested that we pay for the cookies in the amount of $146. Patty Clare moved to pay for the cookies; seconded by Missy Ware. Motion carried.
The Book Fair will be held February 2nd – 6th. Mrs. Toppler would like volunteers to help her before school from 8:35 – 8:45 or on Feb. 2nd from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Anyone interested in helping, please call Mrs. Toppler.
Principal’s Report – Mrs. Weipert received approval for an iPad for the new gym and has requested a bid for enhancements with the microphones. She has ordered the tablets for the K-1st classrooms and they should be here in 4-5 weeks.
Old Business –
Candy Cane Fridays - We sold 660 candy canes in December for a profit of $121.55.
Project Updates – The ball drop for the playground should be delivered soon. Kelli Butcher has a work order in for it to be installed along with double slide.
New Business –
Movie Night – Movie night will be held Friday, January 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. We will be showing the original “Annie” movie. Popcorn and water will be available for purchase. $2 admission.
Box Tops – The committee will be meeting to plan the next contest which will start soon!
Skating Party – PTA will be hosting another skating party at Skatepark in Eldridge on Sunday, February 8th from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Admission is $3 and skate rental is $1.50.
Fun Night – The elementary Fun Night will be held Friday, April 10th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Snack food (popcorn, nachos) will be available for purchase. Amy Paustian volunteered to head the fun night committee; Patty Clare will be in charge of the prize table. Much help is needed to run this fun family event – sign up opportunities will be available as it approaches. It was decided for forgo the raffle, silent auction and class baskets this year.
Missy Ware moved to adjourn; seconded by Lisa Toft. Our next meeting is Monday, February 9th at 6:00 p.m. in the IMC.
