2017 Pond Hockey Tournament Information

DATE: February 3, 4 & 5, 2017

LOCATION: Evergreen Community Center Skating Rink

COST: (5 Players Per Team) $200.00 Per Team. Guaranteed 2 Games.

REGISTRATION: First 12 Teams to Pay Full Registration Fee Will Be Included In Tournament. Teams from the previous year have first right of refusal. Teams from the previous year must be registered and paid by Friday, January 15, 2017.

PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

  • Male and Female Players Welcome.
  • Minimum Age – 15 Years Old As Of January 1, 2017.
  • ALL players must present appropriate identification for age verification at registration
  • Any underage player will be ejected from the tournament and the team will not be able replace the player
  • More than one underage player will result in the team’s ejection from the tournament without a refund.
  • ALL players must be recreational athletes. This means that no active or previous professional (NHL) or semi-professional (AHL, WHL, ECHL, etc) players are eligible.

Tournament Summary

  • All players will receive a copy of the Rules & Regulations in their Captains packages. It is the responsibility of the Captains to ensure that each player on their team READS and UNDERSTANDS the Rules.
  • ALL players must present a signed Agreement of these Rules & Regulations prior to playing.
  • ALL players must sign the liability waiver in the team package.
  • In ALL games, we are looking for the teams to self-manage their games and to assist the Volunteer Officials with ensuring good play and excellent sportsmanship.
  • ALL teams must present a roster with appropriate identification for each player at registration

Tournament Cancellation Policy

  • The Evergreen Pond Hockey Tournament is an all-weather event. By entering this event, you acknowledge that you are playing on an outdoor ice surface, and ice conditions are at the mercy of Mother Nature. ALL teams are expected to play unless the Organizing Committee deems the ice unsafe.
  • If due to weather (Mother Nature Rule), teams that play less than 2 games during the weekend will receive a $100 refund.
  • TEAMS who withdraw from the tournament prior to February 1st will receive a refund minus a $50.00 admin fee
  • TEAMS who withdraw after February 1st forfeit their payment. They are permitted to find a replacement team within seven days.

Pond Hockey Tournament Format

  • 4 players on ice - 1 substitute for a total of 5 players. Teams May Substitute “On The Fly”.
  • No goaltenders
  • 30 minutes in duration 2-15 minutes running time periods with a 5-minute break
  • Games start at the sound of the siren/horn. Any teams late for games will be penalized 1 goal for each minute late.
  • After 5 minutes the late team will forfeit the game with a 10-0 score awarded to the opponent.

NOTE: Games will not be re-scheduled

  • Teams will switch ends at the half
  • A volunteer off-ice official will keep score on the score clock.

This tournament is a Double Elimination Tournament. In the event that the final two teams have no losses throughout the tournament, the final game IS the final game. No secondary final due to first loss will be played.

Ice Surface

  • The rink measures approximately 150 feet x 75 feet
  • Surface will be flooded after every third game.
  • Nets are 10 inches tall and 6 feet wide

Alcohol

  • Drinking is NOT permitted on the POND except in the designated areas. Any player visibly intoxicated will not be permitted to play at the discretion of the Volunteer Official.
  • No outside alcohol is allowed on Evergreen Community Hall property. Alcohol is available for purchase inside the hall.

Prizes

  • Money raised from this tournament will go towards maintenance of our current skating facility. Any extra funds will go towards construction of a new facility. The Evergreen Community Hall thanks you for your support!

First Place - $500

Second Place - $300

Third Place - $150
