Wilder Waite PTO Meeting Minutes

IN ATTENDANCE: K. Klein, M. Rohn, L. Stiverson, S. Johnson, M. Fidler, J. Henley, L. Malalahalli, E. Boston, L. Metzger, J. Vandewiele, J. Ross, A. Gleason, Mr. Jefferson, Mrs. Barrow, Mrs. Ellis

CALL TO ORDER: Meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by PTO President, Kim Klein.

Principal’s Report: Todd Jefferson

Mr. Jefferson welcomed everyone to the new year of PTO. He shared slides from the Harris Survey, which showed overall satisfaction from students, staff, and parents.

Mrs. Barrow introduced herself and explained her role as school counselor. She discussed her referral and confidentiality policies and procedures. She also would like parents to know she has various pamphlets available for viewing on such topics as instilling success, discipline, respect, values, studying and organizational skills.

Mrs. Ellis shared how the staff is benefiting from the weekly PLC times on Wednesdays. The staff has created teams and set goals. A teacher representative will report each month at the PTO meeting.

VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT: Laura Stiverson

Spook is coming. Thank you to all that have volunteered so far. The main raffle is going to be 2 IPad 2s.

SECRETARY’S REPORT: Shelby Johnson

Kim Klein asks for a motion to approve the May 2011 minutes. M. Rohn motions. L. Metzger seconds. Motion passed.

TREASURER’S REPORT: not present

August ended with a checking balance of $9,778.53. There are outstanding commitments for Spook Redemption, Teacher Fund and AR which totals ($2,262.21) giving an adjusted balance of $7,516.32.

Mr. Jefferson made note that next year there should be money given from each of the current grade schools as seed money for the new school’s PTO.

Kim Klein asks for a motion to approve the financials. M. Rohn motions and L. Metzger seconds. Motion approved.

YEARBOOK: Marni Fidler

She is talking with teachers about coming in to take photos.

SCRIP: not present

Kroger check for $156.00 was received this summer.

MARKET DAY: Julie Henley

Julie reported that Sept. sale was $209.07. We will be doing cookie dough again. The next sale is Oct. 18th. Thanks to Nancy Day for helping with the sale.

BOX TOPS: Marcie Gardner

There is a boxtop contest underway ending this Friday.

Volunteer Resources: Lakshimi Malalahalli

Umiko Post was not present but reports that copy parent schedule is underway for this year.

L. Malalahalli is heading up the Culture Fair on March 22nd from 6-8 pm. There will planning meetings starting in November.

SPIRIT WEAR: E. Boston

Ms. Boston discussed the first sale of the year and the sales were $1,161.00. She is debating doing a sale in the spring.

The first AR store will be Oct. 7th.

ROOM PARENT: not present

There are still positions available for Halloween party on Oct. 31st.

STAFF APPRECIATION: Jeanna Ross

Great response for Back to School Lunch. They will be doing a lunch once a month and also for conferences.

WILDCAT SCRATCH: Malisa Rohn

Wildcat scratch will be going out quarterly and the deadline is Friday for the next edition. There is a new email for the PTO which is .

OLD BUSINESS:

There is still discussion on what the funds earned this year will be spent on.
