THE FOLLOWING policy will be stricTly enforced effective Monday, April 8, 2013.Dress Code Enforcement!
Beginning Monday, April 8, 2013, the Academy for Staff Development in Crozier, and the Academy for Staff Development in Marion, will begin strictly enforcing their Dress Code policies.
Anyone not in compliance with the dress codes will not be allowed to attend training.
Below is a summary of appropriate and inappropriate dress:
A. The following is considered professional and appropriate for participating in scheduled Academy training:
1. Professional or office casual dress appropriate for the season. Security personnel may wear Department uniforms.
2. Basic Corrections Officer (BCO) students will wear Department uniform in accordance with standards in effect at that time.
3. For activities such as physical training, defensive tactics training, range activities, etc., clothing worn may be appropriate for the activity, and in accordance with instruction received from the program instructor.
B. The following are examples of inappropriate attire, and may not be worn:
1. Any garment that displays comments or emblems that could be racially, ethnically, or sexually offensive.
2. Any garment worn as an outer garment or readily visible, which is designed or intended as an undergarment.
3. Sleeveless shirts, such as physical fitness shirts, spaghetti strap shirts, T-shirts, or any shirt that would be inappropriate to wear in the work environment.
4. Flip flops, beach sandals, etc., which would not normally be worn in the work environment.
5. Shorts are not appropriate for the classroom, but may be appropriate for physical activities, at the direction of the program instructor.
6. Jeans (any color) or torn pants are not allowed, or any pants not appropriate for the work environment are not allowed.
Select garment color other than orange for class. Our offender workers wear orange.
