Evidence-Based Subgroup Meeting Notes

- We have created a new email address that will exclusively house the work of the taskforce!! This email address is: . This will be the email that will be sending information from here on out.
- We would like to congratulate Gabrielle Amato for the opportunity she has taken to pursue her graduate education in California! However, this means that the subgroup facilitator position is now open! If anyone is interested in being the facilitator for the group, please send Christina Hall () an email before the next meeting.
- The facilitator will help to coordinate any future subgroup meetings and will be in charge of facilitating meetings and reporting back to the full Task Force on the work of the Evidence-Based Subgroup
- The members of the subgroup decided on an appropriate overall Goal and purpose of the subgroup. The goal of this first meeting is to create a roadmap of priorities for the subgroup, ultimately giving a recommendation to the main group.
- Identified goals:
- Identify research and evidence based prevention programs that would fit with the State of Nevada
- Possible Programs for Recommendation:
- CAP (Child Assault Prevention): Grades 1-3
- Better Safe Than Sorry
- Care for Kids (Vermont): Grades Pre-k-2
- We Care Elementary (Vermont): Grades 3-6
- Define the best strategy and best location to implement these evidenced-based programs in order to meet the needs of all of Nevada’s varied populations
- Strategize ways to appeal to administration and teachers for time in schools
- Review curriculum standards and how prospective programs may fulfill these requirements
- Action Steps Before Next Meeting
- Christina has been tasked to send a summary of the evidence-based programs already listed, the implication of these programs in other states, and available materials for distribution
- Rebecca will share data gathered about the CAP project and information on the Better Safe Than Sorry program
