Dear 6th Grade Students and Parents/Guardians:
The sixth grade is heading to Project Oceanology at Avery Point in Groton for an overnight field trip. Your son/daughter’s group will leave Pomfret Community School (PCS) around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12th. The students will return to PCS the next day, Friday, June 13th at about 12:30 pm. There is a $25 cost for the overnight. Make checks payable to PCS. The field trip includes dinner and breakfast. Students will have lunch at 12:30 when they return to PCS on Friday. Please read through the material in this packet and if you have any questions please feel free to contact us, the Sixth Grade team.

Packing List for Project O Trip
Clothes:

Rules Regarding Behavior Project O Field Trip
This is a school-sponsored field trip. Students are expected to maintain a high standard of behavior at all times. Students need to remember that they are representing Pomfret Community School. School rules and policies will apply to all situations. Students who seriously misbehave will have to be sent home. Parents of any student(s) who demonstrate serious misbehavior will be contacted and ask to pickup their child at Project Oceanology.

Project Oceanology Rules of the Hostel
1) Do Not Lock dorm bed room doors at any time. The Project Oceanology building will be locked.
2) Quiet hours are from 10:30 p.m. to 6:30 am. During this time, students will remain in their appointed sleeping rooms with lights out.
3) Free time for socializing will take place in the downstairs cafeteria only.
4) There is no admittance to labs and classrooms unless accompanied by a chaperone or Project Oceanology staff member.
5) Food and Drinks are not allowed in the dorm rooms.
6) Do not leave Project Oceanology building unless accompanied by a chaperone or Project Oceanology staff member. NO ONE is to leave the building after lights out.
7) Possession and/or use of alcohol, cigarettes, non-prescription drugs or other controlled substance will not be tolerated and result in immediate dismissal.
8) Student(s) are responsible for property or destruction.
9) Students are responsible for maintaining cleanliness of rooms, restrooms and common rooms during their stay.
10) Prior to departure a Project Oceanology staff member will check all rooms for cleanliness.
11) Students will treat each other, chaperones and Project Oceanology staff with respect.
12) Students will conduct themselves in a manner ensuring the safety of himself/herself and everyone involved with the program.
