AHOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR SCOTT WARREN FOR HIS YEARS OF DEDICATED TEACHING AT WILSON HALL, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM UPON BEING NAMED SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION’S 2012 HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER OF THE YEAR.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to learn that Scott Warren was recently named the South Carolina Independent School Association’s (SCISA) High School Teacher of the Year; and

Whereas, before joining the Wilson Hall faculty fourteen years ago to teach French and music theory, he worked at Appalachian State University, the University of South Carolina in Columbia, and the University of South Carolina Sumter; and

Whereas, Scott Warren holds master’s degrees in French language and literature and linguistics, and he teaches French I, II, and III, along with advanced placement French, basic music theory, and AP music theory; and

Whereas, in 2003, he was a SCISA High School Teacher of the Year finalist, and in 2006, he received the Margaret S. West Excellence in Teaching Award; and

Whereas, in 2004, 2006, 2010, and 2011, he was named the school’s Star Teacher,an award selected annually by the senior with the highest SAT score; and

Whereas, Mr. Warren also sponsors the instrumental ensemble, an afterschool program, and he arranges music for the eclectic collection ofinstruments they bring in; and

Whereas, he serves as the organist and choir master at the Church of the Holy Cross in Stateburg, and he plays the piano, viola, harp, and accordion; and

Whereas, he serves as a SCISA spellingbee moderator, a moderator for SCISA regional and state quiz bowl for middle and upper school, and secretary of the SumterShaw Community Concert Association, and he holds membership in the American Association of Teachers of French and the American Harp Society; and

Whereas, he knows and speaks numerous languages, and every other year, he takes a group to Paris to learn about the places they have studied in his classes; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives appreciate the recognition that Scott Warren has brought to his school and to his community and are grateful for the outstanding commitment and standard of excellence he has brought to educating students of the Palmetto State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Scott Warren, for his years of dedicated teaching at Wilson Hall, and congratulate him upon being named South Carolina Independent School Association’s 2012 High School Teacher of the Year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to Scott Warren.
