PLANT BASED SUMMIT

April 08-10, 2015

European conference and exhibition

for bio-based SOLUTIONS

CALL FOR PAPERS

APRIL 8-10, 2015

The european conference and exhibition

for bio-based SOLUTIONS

10/04/2015: plant sites visits

Plant Based Summit offers you the possibility to speak at three high-value sessions and to highlight you know-how in plant-based chemistry:

1.  Key molecules and materials

2.  Market Sectors

3.  Process Innovation

You’ll be able to talk about your latest key drivers and return on experience for each theme to an international audience of decision-makers: industrial end-users, raw material and bio-based products industrials, processors, R&D specialists, business angels and other stake holders.

ONLY 30 chosen speakers will have the opportunity to join the high level panel of more than 100 contributors. So please be aware that many high-quality proposals may regretfully have to be declined.

Session Format Overview

·  Each speaker will have 15 to 20 minutes to present his/her contribution within a panel session of 90 minutes, composed of 3-4 speakers.

Questions to consider before submitting your proposal

-  Who is the target audience?

-  What new information will be provided and what will the audience learn from my presentation?

-  In which session does my suggested paper best fit into?

In submitting a paper you agree to make yourself available to present it at any slot that the Programme Committee chooses, from the Congress opening (9.30 A.M on April 8th 2015) to the Congress ending (5.30 P.M on April 10th 2015).

Description of each session:

1.  Key molecules and materials

This stream aims at underlying molecules and materials that make the difference for the success of bio-based products.

Bio-based building blocks emerge in recent years for commodity and specialty markets. This thematic stream will cover new developments in the field of bio-based intermediates and materials. Special attention will be particularly given to:

·  Key molecules able to become new platforms for the production of bio-based products and materials,

·  The latest developments and innovations in bio-based Plastics and Materials in the field of production, functionalities and formulation as well as new markets opportunities.

Your presentation could cover the following aspects:

o  Technical recent developments and achievements (whenever possible, new announcements and industrial successes are welcomed!)

o  Specific industrial management that integrate “bio-based” solutions in your sourcing (e.g. cost, performance, LCA, sustainability)

o  Economical issues : key market drivers and positioning for successful development in competitive environment (time to market, potential derivatives, target applications sectors, fossil-based solutions/comparisons)

o  Development and deployment strategy (e.g. open innovation, partnerships in the value chain)

o  Specific sustainable partnerships with farmers to ensure a regular supply and quality sourcing of biomasse

2.  Market Sectors

The goal here is to highlight interesting final markets for bio-based products. What are the key hurdles to further implement bio-based development and what needs to be done to get them out of the way.

Your speech may deliver several key points:

·  Vision of brand owners and downstream perspective on specific drivers to adopt bio-based solutions. Illustrations could be about brand value creation with bio-based solutions eg.: social and environmental aspects, new performances or substitution approaches, consumer sensitivity to ‘green’ or ‘bio-based’.

·  Bio-based solutions examples for your given market. This may include how you picked up on specific bio-based intermediate to differentiate your final products.

·  Cooperation and structuring the value chain, including joint development with brand owners. You may build your speech with a supplier or a downstream partner to illustrate how building partnership is useful to maximize value and minimize risk level when launching bio-based product.

Sessions are foreseen to focus on the following markets:

o  Home care, detergence

o  Personal care, cosmetics

o  Paints, Coatings, inks and solvents

o  Construction

o  Plastics and materials

o  Automotive

o  Packaging

o  Water treatment.

o  Any other and emerging market for bio-based solutions is welcomed

3.  Process Innovation

The goal of this stream is to emphasize how specific process engineering can support bio-based chemistry development in a competitive way.

This stream is covering new and emerging technologies and new applications for bio-based products production. The past years have seen the emergence of new tools with synthetic biology, the development of biotechnology applications and at the same time growing interest for new industrial technologies for biomass pretreatment, biomass transformation and purification: gasification, pyrolysis, torrefaction, supercritical fluids, microwaves, electric pulsed fields, membranes technologies, microreactors, nanotechnologies......

What make the difference?

Papers have to stress on new, sustainable and emerging technologies or new relevant outlets. A focus on industrial approaches for biomass transformation into bio-based chemicals or materials will be particularly looked at by the advisory board
