Mobility drop-off for the Ceremony – by car
Drive into the main entrance to the University (where you will see a security kiosk in the left lane). About 100 metres after the kiosk, turn right into the ‘NationalSwimmingAcademy’. Turn immediatelyleft passing the swimming pool on your right hand side (the building has an aluminium curved roof). Theroad curls to your right and you should turn left. There will be a door facing you which will take you intothe building and is the nearest entrance for the Tennis Centre. You may notice that there is signage fordisabled access to the left – please do not use this entrance – the entrance facing is closest to thegraduation venue. You should also exit by this door.
Please note that this is a drop-off point only, but unreserved parking can be found at the Cottrell and Pathfoot buildings and the Student Residences. There is limited car parking available at the Gannochy SportsCentre for those who are registered disabled.
Mobility issues for the Ceremony – on foot
For information there are 21 stairs (a set of 3, 10 and 8) going down into the Gannochy Sports Centre. If this causes you a problem, please refer to the paragraph above on how to gain access avoiding thesestairs.
Robe collection for graduands (with mobility issues) and getting into line for the procession
You should collect your robe from the Gannochy Studio. On leaving the studio, youshould turn immediate right, right again and then left. At this point you will see a glass door directly infront of you which takes you into the building. Just past the stairs on the left hand side there is a liftwhich you should take down one floor. The Cramond Sports Hall is on your left hand side and this is were you will get your seat card, where the students marshals will line up the graduands and where thephotographers are based.
Exit for graduates
After the ceremony, the processions leave by the main exit and you will be able to leave the building bythe door on your left hand side (usually the emergency exit for the café).
Directions to Pathfoot for the Reception
On leaving the Gannochy, turn left onto the main road on campus and take the first right which is
signposted for Pathfoot. On foot, and at a comfortable pace, the walk will take you around 6½ minutesto the front entrance or 10 minutes to the rear entrance. There is a slight upward slope for the last fewminutes. If you use the front entrance to Pathfoot there are a total of 48 steps from the entrance to thereception (a set of 16, 16 and 16).
Memorabilia and DVDs are available from the Crush Hall, Pathfoot.
Disabled Access to Pathfoot
Disabled access can be found at the rear entrance of the building. This means that you ignore the first sign for Pathfoot and take the second one. Enter the building via the second door on your left hand side (directly under a large blue sign for a cash machine). For access to the reception, take the second door on the left hand side.
Disabled Toilets
Gannochy Sports Centre – disabled toilets are located within the Tennis Centre – on the right hand side as you enter the room. Pathfoot – disabled toilets are located outside of Oscars (where the main reception is being held) and at the Crush Hall.
