Syllabus - Drawing I

Course Description:

All Art Classes have a requirement of 18 sketches over the semester (360 possible pts.)

Drawing one gives the student an opportunity to learn and practice different drawing techniques and materials through a series of specific assignments.

Assignments:

#1. 3 heightened drawings in charcoal and conte' crayon (4 class periods) 150 pts.

#2. Heightened Self-Portrait (2 class periods) 100 pts.

#3. Dramatic Value study of classmate from digital photo (5 class periods) 250 pts.

#4. 3 views of a spoon and snack wrapper (5 class periods) 250 pts.

#5. Original value rendering grid (10 class periods) 500 pts

#6. White on black drawing (2 class periods) 100 pts.

#7. 3 varied expressive drawings of same object (5 class periods) 250 pts.

#8. 3 Expresso pen drawing with in wash variations (5 class periods) 250 pts.

#9. 5 drawing of hand moving through space. (5 class periods) 250 pts.

#10. Fruit and Veggie oil pastel (2 class periods) 100 pts.

#11. Research paper 3-5 pages on artist or style (3 class periods) 150 pts

#12 Drawing in the style of research artist (4 class periods) 200 pts.

# 13 Children's book (21 class periods) 1050 pts

90 class periods = 4500 pts

Other class requirements:

A. Students will be expected clean up completely and in a timely manner each class day

B. Students will be expected to treat fellow students and materials used with respect.

C. Students are expected to be prepared for class each day having all materials and supplies with them.

D. Students will be expected to follow all school rules as stated in student handbook

A " citizenship" grade of 10 points will be awarded daily for adhering to these rules. Violation of the rules will result in forfeiture of the points for that day. Repeated violation in one day will take away points already earned.

A possible 900 citizenship points will be added to the semester grading scale
