All We Can are seeking a talented capacity and organisation development specialist with superior training and facilitation skills. The successful candidate will lead the implementation of capacity development tools in International Programmes & Partnerships.

Reporting to the Director, the Partnership Manager (CapacityOrganisationDevelopment)will take the lead on the development and implementation of a capacity development and organisation development approach for All We Can’s church and NGO partners.

You will

  • Champion the new partnership framework which places CD and OD at the heart of All We Can’s relationship with Southern partners. As such, this is a central role that will ensure that All We Can’s practice is consistent with their values and approach.
  • Create an organizational self-assessment tool to be used with partners to identify capacity and organisation building action plans, and establish multiple capacity building mechanisms for the partners.
  • Have a superior understanding of a host of capacity development approaches and how to combine these effectively to ensure greater organisation performance.

As a specialist in this area, the successful candidate will lead the development of CD tools that will be adopted by the International Programmes & Partnership team in its work. They will also be a geographic lead, managing partnerships in allocated All We Can priority countries.

The successful candidate will have considerable field experience working with charitable development organizations in low income countries and will be well versed in managing complex capacity development programs involving staff and partners in remote locations at multiple levels of intervention. They will be an expert in training and facilitation, with a proven track record in the design and delivery of effective, visually engaging presentations and learning materials. They will have a degree in NGO management, development studies, organisation psychology, organisation development or a related subject.

This role will require travel up to five times a year for up to three weeks at a time.

Job Description

JOB TITLE / Partnership Manager (Capacity and Organisation Development)
LOCATION: / London

SALARY: / £35,000 - £37,500, plus full benefits package
JOB PURPOSE: / The Partnership Manager (Capacity & Organisation Development) will champion new partnership framework which places CD and OD at the heart of All We Can’s relationships with southern partners.
REPORTING LINES: / Responsible to: Director, International Programmes & Partnerships
Relationships:
  • Internal: International Programmes & Partnerships Team, All We Can Staff
  • External: Consultants, Partner staff

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: /
  1. Lead on the development and implementation of a Capacity Development and OD approach stemming from partnership framework for All We Can’s church and NGO partners

  1. Lead on capacity development and organisation development
  2. Develop and lead on an organisation self-assessment tool based on standard CD and OD models to be used with partners to identify capacity development and OD action plans each year
  3. Support All We Can Partnership Managers in the annual implementation of this organisational self-assessment tool with partners in their focus countries
  4. Support the identification, coordination and delivery of support and training to partners in line with their CD and OD action plans
  5. Be an internal resource person to undertake OD processes for partners in own focus countries and where feasible [at the request of other PMs] in other All We Can priority countries
  6. Establish multiple capacity development mechanisms for our partners (such as fellowships, learning hubs on various CD & OD topics such as leadership, organisational change management, culture, sustainability etc.)
  7. Establish and manage a database of CD & OD consultants operating at the national, regional and global level as a resource for the IPP Team
  8. Support the development of guidance and tools on specific areas of organisation development, organised in line with the elements within the organisational self-assessment tool
  9. Support the Director, IPP to run internal CD & OD training for the IPP team (including national All We Can Partner Coordinators and regularly used consultants)
  10. Lead the planning of CD/OD sessions in biennial partner conferences

  1. Support to other staff and partners
  2. Develop and periodically review our CD & OD training materials for partners, ensuring they are current with best practice
  3. Support other Partnership Managers to implement and embed our CD & OD approach within their programmes and partners
  4. Work closely with the marketing and campaigns teams to promote good organisational communications internally and with partners and learn from our achievements in partner CD & OD

  6. Support the Partnership Manager, M,E & L to establish effective systems to monitor, evaluate and learn from our capacity development and organisation development
  7. Contribute to the development of systems to better measure and demonstrate the impact of our work

  1. Management of Staff and consultants
  2. Assist with the recruitment and management of Country Coordinators (where these are needed)
  3. Recruit and manage CD & OD consultants working with All We Can and/or its partners as needed
  4. Support other partnership managers to assess and select CD & OD consultants for their programmes

5.Partner relationship management and development

  1. Manage several partnerships with NGOs and churches in allocated countries
  2. Assess applications for partnership from southern NGOs and churches in line with All We Can policy and criteria, and provide support in developing proposals for approval
  3. Monitor and evaluate the progress of partners and the use of any grants via correspondence, regular reports and visits to southern and INGO partners
  4. Build the capacity of All We Can partners both at a distance and during visits through: giving advice, sharing information and useful tools, encouraging networking opportunities, conducting or arranging training and technical assistance
  5. Provide Director, IPP with adequate narrative and financial information for project approval and progress monitoring, including recommendations for partnership continuation or termination
  6. In liaison with the Director, IPP, evaluate the service offered by All We Can to partners

6.Programme Quality

  1. Assist the Director, IPP with the development and delivery of All We Can’s strategic approach and approved work plans
  2. Inspire and support innovation and learning in the development of All We Can’s programming and support the analysis and understanding of specific areas of responsibility.
  3. Ensure programme compliance in all areas of donor funding, travel and safety, and financial transactions in areas of designated responsibility

7.International Partnerships Programme (IPP) development

  1. Contribute to, implement and review IPP programme policy, strategy procedures and partnership criteria for long term development and emergency work
  2. Assist the Director, IPP to develop and implement robust work plans that operationalise the strategic plan
  3. Assist the Director, IP in achieving programme and department plan objectives
  4. Provide the Director, IPP and other IPP staff with guidance, direction and proactive programme development for Systems and Processes, or any other assistance deemed appropriate to fulfil the strategy
  5. Develop, review and consistently implement programme policy, procedures and partnership criteria relating to specific areas of responsibility
  6. Keep informed and updated on new developments and insights in the relevant speciality that will enhance and improve All We Can’s strategy and impact

8.Publicity (in liaison with the Marketing team)

  1. Support All We Can’s advocacy work by carrying out speaking engagements and attending information sharing conferences
  2. Respond to requests from the Supporter Relations Team for information and advice on All We Can’s partners for use in promotional and media materials, where requested providing written summaries to record the ‘stories’ and experiences of partners

9.Relationship management

  1. Represent and develop All We Can’s interests through proactive management of positive relations with relevant partners, donors and stakeholders
  2. Liaise with the Major Relationship Manager as required
  3. Monitor implementation and write reports in line with donor criteria
  4. Liaise and network with donors
  5. Provide authoritative external representation of All We Can’s global programmes to international and national fora
  6. Build links and develop partnerships with institutions that offer learning, networking, capacity building, organisational strengthening opportunities and OD best practice

10.Additional tasks

  1. Share information and knowledge between All We Can partners
  2. Contribute to developing organisational learning and expertise in this specialist area through research and sharing of knowledge within the team
  3. Communicate with and where possible, collaborate with other NGOs and governmental bodies to facilitate good development practice
  4. Prepare and conduct presentations regarding relevant partnership to stakeholders including the Methodist Church, Trustees and other supporters
  5. Assist the Director, IPP to review and manage the development budget, in liaison with the IPP Team

11.Other

  1. Attend staff meetings, International Partnerships Programme meetings and other meetings as appropriate
  2. Any other reasonable duty consistent with the responsibilities of the post as requested by your Line Manager

Person Specification

Essential / Desirable
Education and Training
University degree or equivalent in NGO Management, Development Studies, Organisational Psychology, Organisation Development or a related subject / Post-graduate qualification in Development Studies or a related subject
Proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and use of the internet and email / Familiarity with database programs
Proven Knowledge, Skills andAbilities
Significant field experience of working with small developmentorganisations, NGOs, CBOs, faith-based organisationsor INGOs in a low income country / Experience with overseas church engagement and/or mobilisationprogrammes

Good understanding of a range of effective community development approaches / Experience with overseas community based projects programmes
Experience in project management, managing against milestones, dependencies, resources, risks, and issues / Demonstrable experience of Monitoring & Evaluation and beneficiary accountability

Superior training and facilitation skills. This includes experience in designing, delivering, facilitating and convening workshops, courses and roundtables; extensive knowledge of adult training approaches; and proven track record in the design and delivery of effective, visually engaging presentations and learning materials
A track record that demonstrates energy and creativity, and the ability to successfully prioritize and manage competing priorities.
