Dr. Singh is a scientist (Polymer Chemist) by profession who started his career in the USA as a visiting associate professor in the Department of Chemistry, USC. He then moved on to the Aerospace Industry where he retired as a senior vice president of the company in 1993. Since then he has worked as a consultant to the same industry. He has over sixty worldwide patents and research articles to his credit. He retired from his professional activities in 2001. Since then he has been devoting all his time towards religious causes.

He has a deep study of Sikh Religion and philosophy and has been performing the duties of a preacher in several Sikh temples of the Southern California area (Sikhs do not have ordained clergy). He has written three, and edited six books on various aspects of Sikhism and published many articles in highly regarded Sikh journals.

He has given classes on Sikh philosophy and Punjabi language at Mt. San Antonio College, Calstate University Fullertin and UCLA and given lectures on various aspects of Sikhism in interfaith groups, local universities, churches and interfaith fairs including the third Parliament of World Religions, held in 1999 in Cape Town, South Africa. He organized two “Sikh Renaissance” conferences for the benefit of Sikh youth.

He is an active member of the working committee of Inter-religious Alliance of San Gabriel Valley.

He is recepient of the following awards:

1.  Outstanding Service and Distinguished Leadership Award by Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Alhambra, 1982.

2.  IIGS International Award, for Dedicated Service to the Sikh Community through Gurbani Kirtan and Katha, 1991.

3.  Punjab Cultural Society Inc. Award, for Outstanding Community Service, 1996.

4.  Sikh Youth Symposium Award, 2001.
