Chucker 2009

The 9th annual Chucker 2009 is on the way. We are the longest running knife throwing tournament in the US. We have had attendees from almost every state in the Union, England and Mexico. This year we are expecting another great turnout. The Chucker’s were originally founded on the premise of just having fun throwing knives and other pointy things and making sure our new throwers experience immediate throwing success. To us, knife throwing has always been about friendly competition and the joy of friendship and camaraderie. All throwers are welcome at the Chucker 2009, expert and amateur alike. If you’ve never thrown before or if you throw all the time we have a place for you. Come to the only knife throwing tournament on the West Coast, Chucker 2009, and enjoy the fun.

The Date: September 26, 2009

The Place: 5023 Camino Playa Malaga, San Diego, CA 92124

The Time: Practice and registration from 9:00am to 9:45am. The tournament starts at 10:00am SHARP!

Drinks – Yes, coffee, sodas, and beer

The cost: $20.00 registration includes participation in all events, food, drinks and equipment.

The actual events:

Knife throwing – Three divisions

·  Amateur – Not a regular tournament thrower

·  Professional – Have thrown before and want to compete at the upper levels of competition.

·  Youth Division

The scoring is 3,2,and 1 on the target. Five different targets with a 4 inch bull’s eye in an 8” circle on an 18” round. Distances are 8’, 12’, 15’ and 18’ for the professionals and 8’ and 12’ for the youth and amateurs.

Spear Throwing – You’re either first or last in this event. Second place is merely the first loser. Target scoring is 3,2,and 1. Five throws, one spear at a time from 18’ for high score.

Blowguns – Same thing, you’re either first or last. Second place sucks! The “target” is Woody the Woodchuck. Blowguns are provided. Three “in’s” of 20 darts at 15’. Last year hitting the pumpkin on Woody’s head was too easy. Bonus scoring will be much harder this year. Scott Gracia built the “breath of death” target last year. Be prepared for extra challenges this year, he’s had a whole year to think “sneaky” thoughts about this year’s target.

If you want to meet some of the legends of knife throwing the Chucker 2009 is the place to be. Some of our past attendees have been “The Great Throwzini” himself, Scott Gracia. Scott is the master of the web site www.throwzini.com and the moderator of the Thrower’s Forum. He’s also the nicest guy you will ever want to meet. We’ve also had the multiple world record holder David Adamovich aka The Great Throwdini. In addition, you will meet the man who the Chucker was named after - the all round nice guy, Chuck Fogarty. Unfortunately, English Roy (a true no-spin) knife thrower and English Dave can’t make it this year but they will be here in 2010. We’ll miss your “English Humor” this year guys. However, I’m sure they will be with us in spirit. Also in attendance will be the funniest guy on two feet and a damn good knife thrower, Daniel Clark. Lastly you can meet the man who swept all Cold Steel throwing events in 2007 – Micah Posada. Micah is the only sponsored knife thrower in the US. Cold Steel has since cancelled all further knife throwing competitions. I guess they realized it would be a cold day in hell that someone would come along and beat Micah throwing Cold Steel equipment! Larry Hood, the best spearmaker I have ever seen, has already confirmed his attendance at Chucker 2009.

Don’t miss the fun this year. You won’t leave Chucker 2009 without a smile on your face.

We look forward to seeing old and new friends at the Chucker 2009!
