Custom Settings Assignment

Toolbars

Instructions: Create a Word document to record your assignment. At each designated point, take a screen shot and paste it in the document with the given caption. Open a part file and complete the following tasks.

·  In the “Toolbars” tab, turn on the “Large Icons” option.

·  Turn on the “Line Format” and “Render Tools” toolbars and dock them in the upper right corner.

·  Add the “Redo” command next to the “Undo” command at the top of the screen.

·  Add the “Pan” command to the Heads-up Display.

·  In the Sketch toolbar add the following sketch commands, then remove the “Text Below” option for each.

o  Sketch Chamfer

o  Construction Geometry

o  Sketch Picture

·  In the Features toolbar add the following feature commands, then remove the “Text Below” option for each.

o  Combine

o  Move/Copy Bodies

Keyboard

Instructions: In the “Keyboards” tab of the customize box, check on the “Shortcut(s)” title to arrange the keyboard shortcuts by their “shortcuts”. Complete the following tasks.

·  Customize the function keys as follows:

o  F2 – F4 and Shift+F1 – Shift+F4 (View Orientations)

§  Note: F1 is “Help” and cannot be changed.

o  F5 – F8 (Common Sketch Commands)

o  Shift+F5 – Shift+F8 (Common Annotation Commands)

o  F9 – F12 (Uncommon Dimension Commands)

o  Shift+F9 – Shift+F12 (Selection Filter Commands to include “Toggle Selection Filter”)

·  Create a Function Key Menu

o  In a SolidWorks drawing file, create a table and size it to fit a standard keyboard set of function keys (1-12). The table should have two rows; one for standard function keys and one for Shift+ function keys.

Print the menu at full size.

Mouse Gestures

Instructions: In the “Mouse Gestures” tab of the customize box, check on the “Sketch” title to arrange the keyboard shortcuts by the “Sketch”. Complete the following tasks.

·  Set the mouse gestures to “8”.

·  Set the following mouse gestures

o  UR – Ellipse

o  UL – Center Line

o  LL – Text

o  LR – Polygon
