Dear CSS Family,
“The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.” - John 1:9
This is such a special time of the year because it allows us to pause and feel the Christmas spirit as we spiritually travel through the season of Advent. That feeling of warmth, kindness and love that everyone will feel during the next couple weeks is what CSS’ mission is all about. At CSS, we understand that the Advent season is a time of preparation; a time to accept God’s love through the celebration of the birth of Christ and to reflect that warmth, love and sense of hope to everyone who enters our doors. Our secret is that we know that the feelings everyone experiences during the Christmas season actually can last throughout the year. That is why we praise, celebrate and relish in the hope that only Christ Jesus brings every day of the year.
As you prepare for Christmas, I invite you to think of ways that you can spread the warmth, love, peace, and sense of hope to others this season brings throughout the year. I pray that our eighth grade students, who are eager to share the Christmas hope with their communities, successfully perform well on the High School Placement Test this month. And finally, I would like to wish each one of you a peaceful and loving Christmas season. Be Blessed!
Peace and Blessing,
Mrs. Fametta Jackson/ Principal

Tuition and Exclusion Day Policy

Tuition is essential to the sustainability of our school community. CSS depends on tuition to help provide for the many additions that will make it even stronger. It is for this reason that the tuition and exclusion day policy must be enforced. When there are changes in the payment arrangement, the school must be notified as soon as possible. When communication has not been made and payment has not been received, interruptions to a child’s academic program will unfortunately occur. Exclusion days can be found on the monthly school calendar. When an exclusion day is implemented, parents will be contacted by the school office to pick their child up from school. Thank you for choosing our school family and for adhering to the tuition/exclusion policy.

Sarah’s House Project

The CSS community continues to show the world just how special it is. We were able to collect over 2,200 canned goods for the C.A.R.E.S. pantry. This means that we were able to play a role in making sure that a lot of families will be fed this winter season.

Now let us step up to the challenge once again. During the season of Advent, we will collect paper products for homeless families. More information about each grade level’s responsibility will be provided shortly. Thank you in advance for helping CSS spread the Christmas spirit of love, warmth, peace and hope to the world!

Maintaining and Open-Line of Communication with your Child’s Teacher

Whenever information regarding absences, lateness, homework, uniforms, or any other parent concerns need to be communicated, it is important that it is done so through a form of a letter to the child’s homeroom teacher. Although our children may be responsible, information sometimes is not communicated or communicated incorrectly. By communicating information directly to the homeroom teacher, it is guaranteed that it will be heard and addressed.

Early Dismissal and It’s Impact On Instructional Time

The CSS school day begins at 8am and ends at 2:50pm for Pre-k students and 3pm for K- 8 students. When a student is routinely called for early dismissal, a loss of instructional time occurs. This loss of instructional time will have a negative impact on student learning and performance. The CSS community ask that you adhere to the regular dismissal times.

Homework and Monday Folders

Homework is important and essential to a student’s academic growth. It is an extension of the learning process and is assigned daily! It is expected to be completed and returned. If your child does not have daily homework, please contact his/her teacher as soon as possible. Also, Monday Folders should contain the previous week’s informal and informal assessments.

CSS will be even stronger with you help!!

As you plan for the next school year, please consider joining the Home School Association Executive Board. Elections will be held in the spring.
