SeaCompression 2015 Wrap UP report
SeaCompression 1015 – The Re-Evolution In Georgetown
Saturday, November 14, 2015 3pm – 3pm
SeaCompression is the end of the season community celebration that includes music, art and dance. The 12 year tradition of throwing a rave / loud dance party evolved in 2015 to become an all ages, all access celebration of music, art and community in Georgetown called “The Re-Evolution in Georgetown”. The event was open from 3:00pm until 3:00am.
Ignition Northwest funded 17 artists for a total of $3033.00. The generous grant from the Pollination Project sparked the idea of leveraging other organization to help accomplish our mission of support public art.
Held in Georgetown, a quirky Seattle neighborhood, known for its support of artists and community-driven events, broke new ground in having SeaCompression as an open-air street fair. Approximately 750-3000 people experienced the event.
The event unfortunately suffered Seattle's weather and it was one of the coldest and rainiest nights. Despite the inclement weather, the reverberations from this event continue even a year later when we write this report. And then a martian landed.
The event cost approximately $11,000.00 to produce. We actively solicited donations throughout the event, gathered by volunteers either as cash or electronically. By doing so, we were able to offset a majority of the costs.
Please see the lay-out below and the website continues to be visible at:

SeaCompression 2015 established a new event standard for Ignition Northwest. While producing this event, we learned about partnering with communities, how to get our ourmessage out to non-burners and especially how to work outside of the box that we had originally created 12 years ago.
We are excited about the new paradigm that the event has been created and look forward to creating more events that foster community participation, art and education.
