FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Who else but veteran conductor Tim Seelig could put together a night at the Meyerson which includes songs about famine, mashed potatoes and Sara Lee pound cake - complete with cloggers, fiddlers, singing bells, and the choirs of Booker T. Washington High School - and make it all work?
Peaking everyone’s interest this season is the Economic Bailout Raffle to be given away to one lucky winner on November 22nd at the fall concert of Resounding Harmony. The winner will be treated to top notch restaurant gift certificates, a night at one of Dallas’ finest hotels, an espresso machine and – for those nights you don’t feel like dressing up – there’s always Wings Over Seagoville. The total package is worth $3,600!
In true Seelig style this concert, benefitting the North Texas Food Bank, will take you on a roller coaster ride from raucous laughter to tears and every place in between. Coining the phrase “musical philanthropy”, the 200 - voice chorus has proved themselves to be 100% committed to the idea of helping those in need with their voices. Says Seelig proudly, “There is no arts organization in this town that works harder to create a flawless musical product AND at the same time works to raise money for worthy causes with every single effort.’
The concert will feature an original work, “Hunger,” written especially for this fall concert by composer, James Eakin. When Dr. Seelig asked Eakin to compose something with the Food Bank needs in mind, Eakin came back with a song from the heart that he says came pouring out after he was reminded of growing up in a single-parent family struggling to put food on the table. Eakin felt good about penning the song when he realized it could do something to help with the increased needs of the North Texas Food Bank this year. Last year, the Resounding Harmony raised the roof with their voices and provided 65,000 meals for the hungry. This year, they are determined to raise enough for 100,000 meals. Included in the fundraising is the sale of their new CD, available online at www.resoundingharmony.org.
This not-to-be missed concert begins at 8:00 p.m. on November 22, 2009 at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.
