What is this about? / 50% of therapists get wrist and finger injuries – everyone knows about typists but Massage therapists are using so much more pressure.
About 20years ago a massage therapist called Gerry Pyves whose hands were badly injured decided he would have to find another way to Massage, he loved his job and did not want to stop so gradually he developed a way to continue massaging without using his hands
What do you use if not hands?
How can you Massage without hands? / We use the softest part of the forearm (show this as you talk) and use our weight rather than strength
What Gerry discovered was that because he was using his weight not force and the soft part of his arm it was possible for the Massage to be much deeper without any pain – not at all like prodding with fingers.
Where are you based? / The NO HANDS Massage Company is based in Yorkshire but Gerry now trains therapists to work this way providing Massage in private clinics and in corporate settings all over the country.
What is your connection with [the charity you are raising funds for] / These are all independent therapists who have come today and are giving their time for free to support [name the charity]
Is it always done over towels?
Is it always two therapists working together? / Here in the public setting we are obviously working through the towels and in a short space of time, just 15mins, but in private treatment rooms we use oil like standard Massage, just one therapist and a much longer session
