Welcome to the Religious Education Program!

My name is Beverly Brintnell and I am now the Director of Religious Education. It is with joy and humility that I am able to be a part of your child’s Catholic faith formation! I truly believe that if we properly LEARN our faith, we will then LOVE our faith; therefore, enabling us to LIVE our faith. We cannot love that which we do not know… let us, as one Catholic family, strive to send the children down the path of truth, beauty and goodness and see the perfection of these things in faith, hope and charity, all of which, are united in the person of Jesus Christ!

Class

Classes begin on September 13th and conclude on May 9thwith a party. All classes are held on Wednesdays at Bishop Ryan Catholic School. Grades K-8 will beheld from 6:00-7:15 PMandConfirmation/RCIA classes from 6:00-7:00 PM. All parents/adults are welcome to attend this class.

*In addition to time in the classroom, we will be implementing a timefor prayer and Adoration in the chapel to nurture the spiritual growth of the children as well as strengthen their relationship with Christ. “The time you spend with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the best time that you

will spend on earth. Each moment that you spend with Jesus will deepen your union with Him and make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in heaven, and will help bring about everlasting peace on earth.”

St. (Mother) Teresa of Calcutta

*The children will also be participating in Christian service projects; Christ-like service is one of the most powerful ways to show youth the Gospel in action.

*Catholic youth speakers will be brought in to further engage the hearts and minds of the children to the beauty of our Catholic faith.

Traffic Flow

Please use the south door (door A) when picking up and dropping of children. We ask that you do not drop children off more than 10 minutes before class begins. Please be punctual in picking up your children from class as a courtesy to our generous volunteers. For all those that require parking, please use the parking lot to the north of the school and enter through the north door (door H). A door monitor will be available for the safety of your children only at the south door (door A)

until7:25 PM.

Fellowship Meal

The meal is back by popular demand! Thanks to our group of volunteer chefs and BRCS for the use of their kitchen,we will again provide dinner for all those that would enjoy a night away from their kitchen. The meal will be served before class from 5:30-5:55 PM.

The menu this year is easy to remember: pizza! We will alternate between a variety of side dishes for the meals. Drinks will also be available. We cannot accommodate any food allergies at this time. A freewill offering is greatly appreciated as this enables us to continue providing the meal.

ROCK (Reaching Out for Christ’s Kingdom)

The ROCK is a great event that is hosted by BRCS each year. It is a wonderful opportunity for children and adults to grow in knowledge and love of their Catholic faith! The event includes pizza, drinks, music, Catholic trivia (with prizes), Eucharistic Adoration, the Rosary, and excellent speakers.

The ROCK begins at 6:30 PM and usually ends between 8:00-8:30 PM. Students that are attending should first go to their classroom at 6:00 PM. It is available to students in grades 9-12; however, 7th and 8th graders are welcome at the discretion of their pastor or parents. All adults are encouraged to come as well! This year the ROCK will be held on OCTOBER 11TH and NOVEMBER 15TH.

“It is Jesus you seek when you dream of happiness; he is waiting for you when nothing else you find satisfies you; he is the beauty to which you are so attracted; it is he who provokes you with that thirst for fullness that will not let you settle for compromise; it is he who urges you to shed the masks of a false life; it is he who reads in your hearts your most genuine choices, the choices that others try to stifle. It is Jesus who stirs in you the desire to do something great with your lives, the will to follow an ideal, the refusal to allow yourselves to be grounded down by mediocrity, the courage to commit yourselves humbly and patiently to improving yourselves and society, making the world more human and more fraternal.” St. John Paul II
