Kendall BrashearsSelected for Educator Cooperation Award

LAS VEGAS –Kendall Brashears of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation in Stillwater, Okla., received the National Association of Agricultural Educators Outstanding Cooperation award at the NAAE annual convention in Las Vegas on December 2. This award recognizes organizations, agribusiness companies, administrators, and others who have given outstanding support to agricultural education programs.

Brashears has served the Oklahoma FFA, agricultural educators and students since his career began in 1974. He has worked tirelessly in the classroom, in school administration, and as executive director of the Oklahoma FFA Foundation to support agricultural education in the state. In Brashears’ 12 years with the FFA Foundation, annual sponsorships have from approximately $150,000 to $680,000. These funds support the state FFA convention, student awards, and the annual agriscience fair.

Oklahoma agricultural educators and their students are afforded many opportunities for leadership development due to the funds Brashears has secured. He also diligently provides up to date information on the FFA foundation and FFA Chapter Trust programs to the OAETA at annual conferences and district teacher’s meetings. Brashears keeps educators informed about materials and prospects that can improve their programs.

Brashears has been recognized with honorary state and American FFA degrees, the Oklahoma Agriculture Education Teacher Association Outstanding Cooperation award, and the 2016 Community Impact award. He is dedicated to service of his fellow educators and the entire agricultural education community. Though he plans to retire next June, it is no doubt he will continue to positively impact the lives of teachers and students across the state.

Each of the five regional Outstanding Cooperation award winners was recognized for their contributions to agricultural education during the NAAE Convention in Las Vegas. Forrest T. Jones and Company sponsors the plaques for the NAAE Outstanding Cooperation award. NAAE is the professional association for agricultural educators.
