Call to Order
On December 2, 2004, Nancy Williams, Chair, called the Research Committee meeting to order at 10:05 am. October 28, 2004 minutes were approved as written.
Guest Speaker
Lynn Lavely was guestspeaker to discuss the mini-grant proposals. Discussion occurred regarding purposes, nuts and bolts, implementation, etc.
It was the consensus of the committee that:
a) Clarification is needed as to whether or not the mini-grant program is a policy or program.
b) This as a pilot program with a recommendation for reviewing the entire process in one year from Spring 2005. Thus, in January 2006, the Research Committee will review the process.
c) Simplification of forms are needed.
d) The following change(s) were suggested.
· On p.11, line 10, remove the words “blind by reviewer.”
· On p.3, on the bullet beginning “A two member committee, etc.” that sentence should remain but the next three (3) sentences should be eliminated. Add to this section, “Reviewers should be knowledgeable in content and/or methods for each proposal.”
· On p.4 in the section Grant Period, list the grant period as 2005.
e) This document is a work in progress and the process will be fully reviewed in January 2006. This will be the pilot year.
