JacksonvilleStateUniversity - Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management

JacksonvilleStateUniversity offers a Graduate Certificate in Emergency Management. The certificate is designed for middle to upper level managers who desire to expand their knowledge base, but do not wish to initially pursue a formal master’s degree.

The certificate consists of five graduate courses in emergency management, for a total of 15 semester hours. Individuals must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution and must be accepted to the JSU College of Graduate Studies. All graduate course work and a notation of certification appear on the JSU academic transcript. All certificate courses are available online. JSU’s online courses are subject to in-state tuition rates.

*EM 590 Capstone in Emergency Management (3)

And any three of the following four courses:

EM 525Disaster Recovery (3)

EM 540 Hazard Mitigation (3)

EM 545Emergency Preparedness (3)

EM 555Disaster Response (3)

*Students who plan to continue their education by pursuing the Master of Science in Emergency Management, or the MPA with an EM concentration degree at JSU upon completion of the EM certificate may request a substitution for EM 590 towards the certificate requirement.
