A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE BRENDA WILLIAMS, VICE PRESIDENT OF STRATEGY AND COMPLIANCE AT ORANGEBURG REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AFTER THIRTYEIGHT YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives has learned that Brenda Williams will begin a welldeserved retirement on August 1, 2017, after thirtyeight years as a distinguished and highlyregarded administrator at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center; and

Whereas, a native of Orangeburg, she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from South Carolina State in 1974 and a master’s degree in hospital administration in 1976 from the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical College of Virginia in Richmond; and

Whereas, Ms. Williams manages engineering, marketing, grant writing, switchboard, volunteers, telecommunications, laboratory, Joint Commission review, planning, risk management, insurance, environment of care, environmental services, cardiology, cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, the Healthy Living Center, Vein Clinic, Vascular Center, Breast Health Center, Dialysis Access Institute, and Mabry Center for Cancer Care; and

Whereas, during her tenure, she has witnessed improvements such as the expansion of the Mabry Center, construction of the hospital’s Dialysis Access Institute, and implementation of the Healthy Living Center; and

Whereas, a founding member of the Orangeburg Family YMCA and the OrangeburgCalhoun Free Medical Clinic, Ms. Williams is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a graduate of the Diversity Leadership Institute, which addresses disparities in educational achievement and health care access for underserved communities; and

Whereas, she is a life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church; and

Whereas, committed to her community, Ms. Williams is the board chairperson for the OrangeburgCalhounAllendaleBamberg Community Action Agency, Vice President of the Regional Economic and Educational Community Development Corporation, a member of the Denmark Technical College Area Commission, and involved with the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce; and

Whereas, in 2015, the Palmetto Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Association presented her with the Spencer C. Disher MD Award. The award recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exceptional concern for the health and wellbeing of the community, participated on committees and organizational structures related to the health of the community, and shown good will to all; and

Whereas, Ms. Williams was honored as the 2016 Rotarian of the Year by the Orangeburg Morning Rotary Club and as the recipient of the 2017 Distinguished Alumna Award by her alma mater, which was presented to her during the 2017 Founders’ Day Program; and

Whereas, dedicated to her profession, she is a member of the Association of Healthcare Accreditation Professionals, the Association of Healthcare Risk Management, and the Orangeburg School District Five Foundation Board; and

Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives is grateful for the years of unparalleled dedication that Brenda Williams has devoted to Orangeburg Regional Medical Center and wishes her many years of enjoyment in her wellearned retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Brenda Williams, Vice President of Strategy and Compliance at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center, upon the occasion of her retirement after thirtyeight years of outstanding service, and wish her continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Brenda Williams.
