State Skills Standards:
1.1 The student will demonstrate adherence to general shop and site
safety rules including but not limited to those listed in the
following performance indicators.
1.1.1 Demonstrate proper use of safety apparel at all times, including but not limited to, eye protection, hearing protection, skin protection, head protection, footwear and protection from airborne particulate matter.
1.1.2 Demonstrate the safe handling, storage and disposal of chemicals, materials and adhesives in accordance with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, HazCom, MSDS, etc.)
1.1.3 Demonstrate continuous awareness of potential hazards to self and others.
1.1.4 Demonstrate appropriate construction-related safety procedures.
1.1.5 Inspect extension cords for the presence of a functional ground connection prior to use.
1.1.6 Place and secure ladders when appropriate.
1.1.7 Demonstrate awareness of personnel and activities near the work area.
1.1.8 Report hazards found on the job site to their supervisor/teacher.
1.1.9 Explain basic first aid procedures for treating cuts, burns, and electrical shock.
1.1.10 Demonstrate proper fall-protection practices and use of safety devices at all times.

  1. SWEEP FLOORS

Sweep the floors completely to ensure a dust-free surface.

Fridays- Vacuum behind the radial arm saw and check the shop for built up dust.

  1. BENCH TOPS AND STOOLS

-All hand tools must go back into cabinet 9

-All lumber must be returned to the long and short racks

-Fasteners must be put back in their proper drawers-cabinet 15

-Make sure all tops are clear of all tools and materials

-Brush table tops completely and flip the stools on the corners of the tables- 4 stools per table

All hand tools must be returned to cabinet 9 in their proper places

Make sure all portable tools are back in their proper cabinets

  1. LUMBER RACKS

Any material lying around the shop that is reusable must be place in the short rack or long racks. Any materials on top of the short rack must be sorted accordingly with its proper compartment.

  1. FINISHING ROOM

All finish materials must be tightly sealed and placed neatly on the shelves in the yellow cabinet. Any rags or towels lying on the counter or floor must be place in the red fire proof containers. All finishing room tools must be placed in the yellow cabinet on the top shelf.

Fridays- Sweep the floor in the finishing room

  1. LARGE & SMALL BANDSAWS

Brush the machine off completely.

Fridays- Open the doors of the saw and vacuum the inside

  1. TABLE SAWS

Clear the machine of all material, hand tools, etc. and put everything in its respected spot in the shop. All tools for the table saw go in or on the rolling cart under the table saw. Brush the machine completely.

Fridays- Open the bottom cabinet doors and vacuum out the inside of the saw cabinet.

  1. WOOD LATHES

Place all tools and plates in proper areas on the lathe board and brush the machine completely

All scrap wood must be placed in the proper long or short racks. Clear the tables of any tools and brush the machine completely.

Clean the disk with the eraser and brush the machines completely

  1. DRILL PRESSES

Take out any bits or drums from the drill presses and chuck keys and place them in their proper areas in cabinet 9

  1. GLUE TABLE AND CLAMPS

All clamps must be placed back in their proper places. Glue bottles and glue scrapers must be placed in their white trays on the side of the glue table. Brush the table completely.

All drum sanders must be put back in the storage room out of the walking path in the room

  1. POWERMAX DRUM SANDER

Brush machine completely and open the top cover to vacuum the inside. Unplug the machine and roll in its respected spots.
