We will be preparing to move up to the next class and welcome in the new children. We will try to become more responsible about completing our blue book homework and reading as often as we can. / We will take part in an e-safety afternoon and will complete follow up activities on this. We will have the opportunity to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge in conjunction with Bridport Library and we will take part in the School Production. We are also going to visit Axe Valley wildlife park. / We will continue to explore how our school values of friendship, generosity, perseverance, compassion, respect and truthfulness are evident in customs and behaviour globally as well as locally, by looking at Fairtrade. We will learn about the lives of people around the world who grow our food.
As historians we will learn about how farming has changed in the last 100 years both here and abroad. / As geographers we will be looking at different countries from around the world and what they grow for us. We will find different countries on maps. / As writers we will be learning Phase 3 phonics and use them in our writing. We will improve the formation and size of our letters as well as practise writing for different purposes. / As Mathematicians we will be learning to count in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We will be performing simple addition and subtraction sums as well as learning 2D and 3D shape names and describing them.
As scientists we will be learning about plants. We will identify and describe the different parts of flowering plants. We will perform simple experiments using food. / As artists and designers we will be improving our observational drawing skills by making detailed drawings of fruits and vegetables. We will create pictures in the style of the artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. / As sportspeople we will be continuing to develop PE skills with Action Van as well as doing gymnastics. We will also be practising team games in preparation for Sports day. / As Linguists we will be learning to say animal names andfruit in French and hearing the Handa’s surprise story in French.
As rights respecting people we will be focusing on the British value of Democracy during our School Council Meetings. We will learn about voting and vote for a school council representative. / As musicians we will be focusing on learning the songs for our whole school production as well as songs that link with our topic. / As theologians we will be learning about the Jewish faith and answering the questions.Is Shabbat important to Jewish children and does celebrating Chanukah make Jewish children feel closer to God? / As computer scientists we will be focusing on e-safety issues such as guarding our personal information.
