Overview
The Quia Corporation was founded in 1998 to improve education through Web-based technologies. It pioneered the "create-your-own" concept, giving instructors the ability to create customized educational software online that is built around a teacher’s own course materials and is available to the students over the Web.
Quia provides a variety of educational services, including:
A directory of thousands of online activities and quizzes in more than 50 subject areas
Templates for creating 16 different types of online activities, including flashcards, matching, concentration (memory), word search, battleship, challenge board, columns, cloze exercises, hangman, jumbled words, ordered list, patterns, picture perfect, pop-ups, rags to riches (a quiz-show style trivia game), and scavenger hunt
Tools for creating online quizzes with up to eight question types
Quiz administration and reporting tools
Class Web pages
Calendars and schedules
Online surveys
To get started Log on to
Be sure to write down your Username and Password below.
Create a username and
password name of your
choice.
Type in your name and
e-mail address.
Click Create my account
Enter the activation
key provided by your
instructor.

This is the main login and menu page with a few of the navigation areas highlighted. On future visits to Quia you will login at and see the screen below.

Exploring the Instructor Zone
Click on the GO button in the Instructor Zone box on the login page. A tab menu is displayed.
Click on each of the tabs to discover the resources available.
Discuss with the participants in your group ways in which to incorporate these resources into classroom practices.
Classes tab - Create a class web page to link activities, assignments, surveys, tests or web resources.
Activities tab – Create activities, games, and worksheets in this section. Click on the drop down arrow to view the different activity templates. Click on the View Sample Activities link. Review activities others have created.
Quizzes tab – Create a quiz or mini quiz. Click on the GO button to view the process in creating a quiz.
Surveys tab – Create surveys to determine needs and results of your students. Surveys can be created in a variety of formats – multiple choice, Yes – No, Pop Up, Ranking, Rating Scale, Rating Grid, or Free Response. The surveys can be created by any combination of the formats. The surveys are scored on-line and the data is available by class or individual percentage and rankings.
Click the GO button next to the Create a Survey line. Click the Edit… button next to the Create Questions line. Explore ways to create surveys.
Files tab- Upload your files and graphics. Create folders to organize your files. Each participant
Profiles tab – Displays current information about your account. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Quia web settings page. These settings provide options for the activities created with your account.
