Job description

The job description is specific to each role and sets out the duties associated with the role. Use the job description to guide your choice of information to include in your claims against the selection criteria so that the selection panel can clearly see your suitability for this particular role.

The Manager, Compliance under the broad direction of the Director and/or Senior Manager, is responsible for:

·  leading and supervising staff and assisting with their training and career development

·  establishing and maintaining strong relationships with a broad set of stakeholders, including partner agencies, and work with them to define and identify significant money laundering, terrorism financing and people smuggling risks within the remittance sector and consider treatment options using AUSTRAC’s regulatory powers under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (AML/CTF Act)

·  contributing to strategic plans, which satisfy the current and ongoing needs of the organisation's business strategy, and the current and future capabilities

·  monitoring and assessing the compliance of reporting entities with their obligations under the AML/CTF Act, the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Rules and by guiding, leading or participating in assessments of reporting entities

·  developing and/or contributing to recommendations to refuse an application for registration, impose conditions or suspend or cancel a reporting entity’s registration

·  participating in day to day operational planning and activity promoting compliance with the AML/CTF Act

·  liaising and negotiating with regulated entities to encourage voluntary rectification measures

·  other relevant duties as directed
