INTRODUCTION
Pharmacy Education is the foundation on which the house of the entire PharmaceuticalIndustry, technology, research and clinical pharmacy is built. The primary purpose ofPharmacy education is to develop technical human resource, novel approach and visionwith respect to teaching, research, development and training future health careprofessional in the field of drugs and pharmaceuticals.
GujaratAyurvedUniversity under the Institute of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences(IAPS), having obtained No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Government of Gujarat,offers Diploma and Degree courses in Ayurvedic PharmaceuticalSciences. The knowledge acquired through these courses will be useful in becoming asuccessful dispensing Ayurvedic Pharmacist, a good manufacturing pharmacist ofclassical Ayurvedic drugs and formulations, a good quality control pharmacist and apharmaceutical technologist. He/She can also enter into the services of food and drugcontrol administration of the state.
These courses are run since the year 1999 and number of students havereceived their diploma, degree and post graduation certificates from this GreatUniversity. B.Pharm.(Ayu.) is a degree recognized by UGC and is also a recognizedqualification with Food and Drugs Control Administration for a qualified AyurvedicPharmacist. Great opportunities are available in different states for diploma holders aswell.
GujaratAyurvedUniversity is running two institutions on self finance basis, impartingcourses in Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical sciences and is managed through a GoverningBody constituted as per Ordinances assed by the Syndicate. The Governing Body hasrepresentatives of the Central and state Governments,academicians, AyurvedicPharmaceutical Industry, FDCA and the Senate and syndicate of the University.

1.1. Definitions:
‘State Government’ means the Government of Gujarat.
‘University’ means GujaratAyurvedUniversity, Jamnagar.
‘Candidate/ applicant’ means an applicant who desires to appear for admission to Firstyear.‘Principal’ means the Principal, Institute of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences, Jamnagar.
‘Competent Authority’ means the authority appointed by the GujaratAyurvedUniversityto invite applications by implementing these admission rules. All the decisions of thecompetent authority in relation with admission to first year courses shall be final andbinding on the candidates. In IAPS, yearly-framed Admission committee headed by theChairman will be the ‘Competent Authority’.
‘College’ or ‘Institute’ means Institute of Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical Sciences, Jamnagar.‘Inter se merit’ means the order or merit as defined by the Competent Authority.‘Sanctioned intake’ means the course wise number of seats sanctioned by the Universitytime to time.
‘First year Admission’ means the admission to first year to final year duration of therespective courses.
1.2. General definition:
Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)- Persons who are citizens of other countries (exceptPakistan and Bangladesh) who at any time held an Indian passport, or who or either ofhis/her parents or any of his /her grand parents was a citizen of India by virtue of theprovisions of the Constitution of India or Sec 2(b) of Citizenship Act 1955 (Act No-57 of1955).
Non-Resident Indians (NRI) - Persons who are citizens of India but residing in outsidecountry.

3.0. Eligibility Criteria to be considered for different courses offered by IAPS.

4.0. Candidates to be considered under Gujarat quota:
4.1. All the candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination(12th) or D.Pharm (Ayu.) from GAUfor B.Pharma, S.S.C.(10th) for D.Pharma underGujarat State Education Board.
4.2. For B.Pharma all the candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination (12th) under, Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E.) from the school situating atGujarat state.
4.3. Sons and Daughters of All India Services Officers Viz. Indian AdministrativeServices, Indian Police Service and Indian Forest Service allotted to the Gujaratstate and serving in the state outside the Gujarat state on deputation shall betreated at par with the candidate in Gujarat Higher secondary Education Board, ifthey have passed the qualifying examination of the respective state Board, orwith the candidates of the Central Board of secondary Education, New Delhi. 4.4. Sons and daughters of Gujarat Government Servants who have been posted
outside Gujarat state for administrative reasons shall also be covered under
Category 4.1. Use Proforma B.
4.0-A Candidates to be considered under Out of State Quota:
All the candidates who have passed Higher Secondary examination (12th) for B.Pharm and S.S.C. (10th) for D.Pharma under Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or other State Boards.
5.0. Candidates to be considered under Reserved quota:
5.1. Seven percent (7%), Fifteen percent(15%) and Twenty Seven percent (27%) ofthe total seats shall be reserved for the candidates belonging to SC, ST andSEBC respectively, provided that (i) Widows and (ii) Orphan children shall be inthe 27% reserved seats for SEBC(Excluding Creamy Layer candidates as per
G.R.S.W.Deptt.No.SSP-1194-Conf.-109/A dated 1.11.1995).
5.1.1. For Creamy Layer : The candidates of socially and educationally backward class will have to submit caste certificate and also certificate to the effect of non-inclusion in Creamy Layer (Parishisth-“Ka”) issued after 1st April of the year of admission-2007, by the competent authority. Such candidates not submitting the certificate in (Parishisth-Ka) will be considered for admission under unreserved category.
5.2. The caste, tribe or socially & educationally Backward class certificate for the
above communities candidates shall be considered only if it is issued and signed
by one of the following authorities:
o The Collector
o The Prant Officer
o The Mamlatdar
o The Mahalkari
o The Director of Social Welfare/District Backward class Welfare Officer
Class-1.
o The District Social Welfare officer/District Development Officer/ DeputyDistrict Development Officer / Taluka Development Officer and as per Government of Gujarat Circulars issued by the social Justice and
Empowerment Department from time to time for the said purpose. In case of anydoubt or discrepancy about the caste, the decision of the Director of SocialWelfare/Commissioner of Tribal Development/Director of Developing Caste shallbe treated as final.
5.3. Authorities competent to issue certificate in respect of Castes/Classes/Groupsrecommended by the socially and Educationally backward Class (excludingCreamy Layer) are as given below:
o The Collector
o The Deputy Collector
o The Mamlatdar
o District Magistrate / Addl. District Magistrate
o Sub-Divisional Magistrate/Executive Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate
5.4. Authorities competent to issue certificate to Orphan Children and Widow Womenare mentioned below:
o The District Collector
o The District Development Officer
o The Assistant Collector/ Deputy Collector
o The Mamlatdar / Deputy Mamlatdar
and as per Government of Gujarat circulars issued by the social justice andEmpowerment Department from time to time for the said purpose. In case ofdoubts or discrepancy about the Castes/Classes/groups/categories, decision ofDirector of Social Welfare/ Commissioner of Tribal Development /Director ofDeveloping Caste shall be treated as final.
5.5. The seats earmarked for admission of the particular category students underreserved seats for the candidates from the category belonging to SC/ST/SEBC(excluding Creamy Layers) etc. will be allotted for admissions of the students ofthe respective categories. For this purpose merit list will be prepared categorywise and admissions for each category will be regulated accordingly.
5.6 In case it is found in any particular year that the number of students belonging torespective communities and or categories mentioned above are not available forthe reserved seats for that particular community/category, the vacant seats fromthat reservation shall be treated as unreserved seats and filled up from amongstthe students from the open merit list.
5.7. The Candidate belonging to the SC/ST/SEBC for whom reservation is made andwho come on open merit list will be counted against non-reserved seats. Thereservation percentage will be applied in addition to those who come on merit.
5.8. The candidate seeking admission under SC/ST/SEBC quota will have to producethe caste certificate from competent authority in prescribed proforma No- I alongwith the application form. The candidate shall not be allowed to change the casteor category thereafter.
5.9. Seats available for Jammu & Kashmir Migrants
Provision of one seat each under 5.11in all the courses offered by IAPS:
5.9.1. Migrant Candidates :
The children of citizens who are displaced from Jammu & Kashmir to any part ofIndia or from unsafe border area of J & K to a relatively safer place in J & K from1990 onwards due to terrorist activities.
5.9.2. Non Migrant Candidates :
?The children of officers belonging to Indian Administrative services, Indian PoliceServices, Indian Forest Services, other officers and children of the staff belongingto military and paramilitary forces, transferred to Jammu & Kashmir to combatterrorist activities and joined the post on or before the last date for submission ofapplication form. (Non Migrant Candidate)
?The children of staff of J&K Police engaged in combating terrorism.
The candidates seeking admission against the seats reserved under 5.11have to submitrelevant Certificates shown in Proforma C/D/E in support of their claim at the time ofadmission. The admissions against these seats are done strictly as per the inter se meritof the candidates claiming seats for J&K.
Note :
?Jammu and Kashmir Migrant candidates shall pay the fees same as that of the
fee schedule as per 8.0 of this rule.
?Any seats will come vacant, the same may be filled under open category.
5.10.Seats available for staff quota
Staff quota seat is to be filled on meit base by wards of employees of GAU and institutes managed by GAU.
5.10.1In case, if seat is not filled as per 5.10, it is to be filled by preparing merit list of wards of employees of government approved ayurvedic colleges and grant in aid institutes.
6.0. Procedure of Admission:
The admission procedure for all the courses offered by IAPS has following stages.
6.1.0.Stage-1, Distribution of Information Brochure.
Admission notice will be published in leading newspapers every year with the mention of the last date for submitting the application for new admission.
Candidate can down load theform from website and submit it by regd. Post with D/D of Rs. 350/- and duly attested Xerox copy of original documents.
6.2.0.Stage-II : Downloading of application form online through web.
?All the information printed in the application form will also be available onthe website and for browsing, downloading and printing only afterreleasing admission notice.
?DD should be drawn in favour of “THE PRINCIPAL, IAPS, Jamnagar”and drawn nationalized bank only Payable at Jamnagar. Outstation/local cheques will not be accepted under anycircumstances.
?Candidates are required to submit the filled application and DD(Demand Draft) for Rs.350/- as Admissionprocessing fee + Application form fee to the IAPS either by Registered post/Speed post/ on or before the last date as prescribed in theAdmission Notice. Application forms of those applicants whose DD received after theprescribed last date will not be considered for any further processing. No hand delivery is permitted. I.A.P.S. will not be responsible for any delay in postal communication.
?Confirmation of submission of application form will be done only after the receipt of DD for Rs.350/- and the same will be displayed on the and individualemails will be posted to the candidates with their Candidate Identification Number(CIN) letters/e-mails Candidate have to submit a self addressed post card for CIN and a self addressed envelope with Rs. 25/- (stamp) for interview call letters.
6.2.1. Stage – II: Submission of application through Reg. AD / Speed Post
?Candidates should read all the rules given in the information brochure before filling
the application form.
?Candidates have to submit filled application form along with processing fee ofRs.350/- before the last date.
?Candidates are also required to submit one-passport size photographs along with
Application form. photo should be duly signed pasted on application form
?The In-charge at IAPS center feeds the data from the application in computer .
?A printout of filled application form will be given to the candidate, if requested, for the
Purpose of corrections, if any prior to interview date.After incorporating corrections, the corrected
Application form will be saved on the computer.
?Finally, the CIN will be allotted to the candidate for future correspondence.
?In case, if candidate submits more than one application form, only the latestsubmission of application will be considered for further processing.
?In case, if a student would like to submit application form for more than one course,he/she should submit separate forms along with required fees for each course.
6.3. Stage – III : Appearing for Personal Interview.
?The Admission Committee will publish the merit list on the notice boardas well as on web
?On the basis of merit list, competent authority shall publish merit lists on noticeboard and web according to the merit. The candidates will also be issuedInterview call letter through Registered to all the candidateswith the mention of interview place, date and time.
?Candidates are required to submit Interview Call Letter (ICL) to the AdmissionAuthority while they are coming for interview. Representatives are allowed for appearing personal interview with proxy letter [Attached proforma – J] duly authorized by candidate.
?Candidates shall report on personal interview with all original certificates neededto substantiate the claims made in the application regarding the eligibility andreservation, etc.
?If a candidate fails to substantiate the claims made at the time of submitting theapplication form by submitting the necessary documents within the reporting time,the candidate forfeits the claim on the allotted seat.
?If a candidate unable to produce original certificates at the time of his/heradmission on account of admission already secured to some other institution,he/she shall produce a certificate from the head of the institution where he/shehas already taken admission. The candidate shall produce the attested copies ofthe certificates duly attested by the Head of the concerned institution. Such
Candidates shall be required to pay the fees immediatelyand such candidates shall be permitted to submit the required original certificateswithin 4 working days after the date of payment of fees. Use proforma G.
?If selected candidate fails to pay the prescribed fees within the reporting timeallotted, the candidate forfeits the claim on the allotted seat.?Admission Committee has a right to create waiting list on the basis of merit forenabling the smooth admission procedure.
? Admission committee have right to change the admission procedure.
Note:
The selected candidates have to secure admission by paying necessary tuition fee asper Rule 8.0 and should have submitted original certificates along with filled Enrollmentform. (Enrollment Forms are available from Office in free of cost). In case candidate failsto submit any of the original documents within the permissible time limit, the admissionshall not be applicable to such candidates.
6.4. Admission General:
?During the admission time, a separate Counseling cell may be formed consistingof Teaching and Non-Teaching staff members by the Principal-IAPS for clearing thedoubts of candidates seeking admission in various courses offered by IAPS. Fails to deposite the fees the seat will be forfeited and no claim will take into consideration.
?Students those who are seeking admission under staff quota should attachcertificate as per proforma –I along with their application.
?The Candidate Identification Number (CIN) should be mentioned while placingany enquiry/communication with IAPS.

6.5.0. Determination of Merit Order:
The merit order shall be determined on the following basis:
6.5.1. D.Pharm.(Ayu.) course:
6.5.1.1. Total marks of 10th standard is calculated while preparing merit list forD.Pharm.(Ayu.) course
6.5.1.2. 10+2(Science) pass candidates seeking admission in diploma course will be
given two percentage (2%) of weightage on their SSC marks.6.5.1.3. If there are candidates who have secured equal marks in percentage ofmarks in 10th std, the merit order should be determined as under:
a. Candidates whose marks in Sanskrit are higher should be placed higher.
b. After application of rule (a) is still the candidate have equal marks, meritorder should be determined on the basis of marks obtained in English.
c. After application of rule (b) is still the candidate have equal marks, meritorder should be determined on the basis his/her age whose age is lower.
