Jan 11 – Present Ocean Rig South Korea

Electrical And Instrumentation Section Leader

·  Supervision of the Electrical inspection team and Electrical operations team, coordinating mechanical completions of the systems right through to managing and carrying out the E&I commissioning of the vessels.

·  Review of the initial specifications and contract, drawing reviews, engineering changes, completed FMEA and drilling integration test procedure improvements to comply with the most recent class society rules as per specification (Both ABS and DNV).

·  Review and engineering improvements to the high voltage protective device coordination study, upgrades to the DP system, review of short circuit calculations, electrical load analysis and power management system improvements including design changes to black out recovery sequences and recovery time improvements.

·  Implementation of the Ex register and inspections as per IEC 61892 including carrying out inspections, recording inspection results and reporting of defects found into the focus system.

·  Work with the ship yard to implement a preservation plan for the vessels including schedule and procedures following vendor and supplier recommendations, carrying out preservation inspections and reporting defects/non conformities in both the yard system and in STAR for the operations team.

·  Completed the STAR database for all equipment onboard, ordering of fleet spares and provide technical support after delivery on all vessels including visits to the operational vessels when required.

·  Commissioning of hullside systems including ABB 6000 thruster drives and thruster safety systems, Kongsberg DPS and IAS, STX/Wartsila engines with ABB generators including safety systems.

·  Commissioning of the Electrical distribution system hullside and topside ensuring full integration between HV and LV systems and all safety systems function as per design.

·  Involved in the commissioning, inspections and implementation of design changes on a total of 2 new Jack-Up rigs in Singapore.

·  Testing and commissioning of systems including NOV Amphion control system, TTS Sense control system, Vacon VFD's, Siemens VFD's, TDS8 Top drive, Canrig top drive, ADS Drawworks, CAT 3516B Engines and BM vessel management system.

·  Sailed with the last of the completed rigs from Singapore to its first contract drilling for Petro Vietnam assigned as Electrical Supervisor/Chief Electrician.

·  Repair of all equipment onboard and ensuring all repairs were recorded in detail in the company planned maintenance system, after repair follow up with the appropriate warranty claims to the shipyard.

·  As Project Electrical Superintendent I was responsible for the on time delivery of both rigs from the shipyard.
