The award recognizes [Student last name]’s academic achievement in the sciences. As part of the award, [Student last name] received the book Our Daily Bread, The Essential Norman Borlaug, written by Noel Vietmeyer. This book tells the story of Dr. Borlaug, a CFANS graduate and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize who is credited with saving a billion people from starvation. Dr. Borlaug’s vision and scientific rigor rescued several nations from famine and provided a blueprint for countering today’s resurgence in global hunger.

The Norman Borlaug Science Achievement Award also includes a $1,000 scholarship upon successful enrollment in CFANS, a college within the University of Minnesota.
