CJH 8th Grade Information Sheet | 2017 – 2018

Prepare for the upcoming school year by reviewing our dress code and other school policies, attending COUGAR DAYS on AUGUST 23rd or 24th, and getting all necessary supplies listed below.

Cougar Days provide students an opportunity to get an unofficial copy of their schedules, tourtheschool, pay fees, purchase items, get school/ID pictures taken, return medical forms, and open lunch accounts. Please review the chart below to determine your scheduled day and time.If you can't make it at your scheduled time, please come when you can.

CJH Supply List for8th Graders

All 8thgraders will need the following REQUIRED supplies:

  • Three-ring binder with accordion folder, six tabs, or six individual folders for organizing papers by class
  • Lined, college-rule notebook paper
  • Pencils and blue or black ballpoint pens
  • Erasers
  • Three-ring pencil pouch for pens, pencils and other supplies
  • Highlighters and several red correcting pens
  • One package of 3x5 notecards
  • One composition book for keeping notes (70 - 100 sheets)
  • Two spiral notebooks for keeping notes (70 - 100 sheets)
  • Wellness 8:
  • Workout clothes must be worn for Wellness 8 and appropriate athletic shoes must be worn at all times during gym classes. All gym clothing must meet CJH dress code requirements. In order to prevent theft, students are strongly encouraged to lock their gym lockers.
  • Locks may be purchased through student accounts for $7 or students may bring their own locks from home.
  • CJH Agenda and ID Card: All students will be given an agenda and ID card during the first week of school

We RECOMMEND that all students purchase these supplies:

  • Scientific calculator
  • Colored pencils
  • Sharpener
  • USB drive (“flash” or “thumb” drive)
  • Other supplies may be needed for specific classes. Teachers will provide more information at the start of the year about what supplies are needed.

The following purchases and payments can be made at CJHS during Cougar Days or at For payments made at Cougar Days, only checks or cash can be accepted by our bookkeeper. Debit or credit cards can be used for payment through the online payment system. Detailed information about how to use our online payment system is included on a separate letter in this mailing. This letter includes login and password information for lunch accounts and other purchases.

CJH ASB Card / $25.00: Payment is for ASB only;ID card is free. Required for all 8th grade students participating in CJH clubs and athletics.
Instrument Rental Fee / $130.00: Students in band and orchestra only.
PLEASE NOTE: Reduced rates are determined by eligibility for free or reduced lunch.

* Students are NOT required to purchase novels. Novel sets can be purchased through the CJH Bookkeeper as a convenience to students and families. Novels can also be checked out through English teachers (free of charge if returned unmarked and in good condition) or can be purchased through local retailers or online sources.
