Prepared by: Brian Maki
Date: April 10, 2011
Summary
This website is a very low weight design, tested to be compatible with all major browsers and utilizes Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) exclusively for layout and design, as such it is fully compatible with the latest technology in web design as specified by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), and is fully cross browser compatible. It has also been designed so that it will display properly on all devices and screen sizes, with the exception of small handheld devices, if this functionality is required a separate design specifically for handheld devices is recommended.
Business Statement
Adam’s Skate Park is a non-profit organization founded by Lissa Kenoras from Chase B.C. it was originally formed to organize a yearly Skate Board, BMX and Rollerblade Competition in Chase B.C. and is dedicated to Lissa’s son Adam Kenoras. The intention of the competition was to give the local youth a safe and organized setting to compete.
The original idea has grown into a movement to provide a safe and friendly environment for the local youth to perform the sports they love, to develop the skills they need to succeed in life and to help bridge the gap between the local youth and the local community.
Lissa plans to build an indoor skateboarding facility in chase with a variety of services including meeting rooms, skateboard and computer equipment, a gaming area and a day care area.
Project Description
Lissa wanted a fairly compact website, that could give publicity to her organization, explain the objectives of the organization and help provide some advertising and acknowledgement to the people that have helped her over the years.
She also requested the functionality of an online form she could use to gather information and opinion from the public on what she is trying to accomplish and to possibly recruit both adults to help her and youth to participate in a Club she is trying to form.
Site Description
The site we have designed is quite simple with a main page, two links pages one to sites about Chase itself and one to Skate Board links from the local area and the province, and an online form to gather data from the visitors to the site. We have also included a manual slideshow presentation and an embedded You-Tube player to show off photos and videos from past events. We have also provided links to her photo gallery on Facebook from both our links list and a sidebar with a number of the photographs from her gallery as thumbnails and provided a long list of links to skateboard manufacturer’s sites as a right side bar. Both links pages contain lots of links and a good amount of public domain photo’s related to the subject of the pages.
