The Boiler Engineer is the one who needs to provide service and maintain high-pressure industrial gas, oil and solid fuel boilers. They mostly work at the factories, commercial buildings, warehouses and shopping malls as a part of the maintenance department. The job of a boiler engineer entails supporting the apparatus in an appropriate manner. He or she needs to keep all the safety measures in mind so it is needed to work in the compliance with the necessary safety norms.

Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities which are needed to be fulfilled by a boiler engineer are as follows:

·  The basic and the main responsibility to do the routine servicing and maintenance of the boilers and auxiliary equipments.

·  He or she has to ensure the proper maintenance of the boilers and the proper pressure in the boilers as well.

·  He or she has to maintain and regulate the temperatures within the buildings.

·  It is needed to ensure the proper air-conditioning and heating in the buildings.

·  He or she has the duty to follow all safety and precautionary measures and keep all the factors in mind while working in the boiler rooms.

·  He or she has to work for the detection of the malfunctions in the boilers.

·  It will be the duty to immediately repair the boilers required.

·  The duty includes keeping repair and service maintenance records and does the documentation properly.

·  He or she has to work as a supervisor in the works of assistant boiler engineers and organizing necessary training for them.

·  The duty includes keeping the proper records of meter and gauge readings and fuel consumption of the boilers and also updating it timely.

Skills and Specifications

The required skills and specifications are as follows:

·  The person should have the excellent written and verbal communication skills to do the job.

·  He or she should be able to detect technical malfunctions in the boilers and so should have required knowledge.

·  He or she should have a sound and thorough understanding of all safety regulations and norms for working in boiler rooms.

·  The person should have the exceptional leadership skills and the ability to lead and motivate a team of assistants properly.

Education and Qualifications

·  The basic degree required for the job is a Bachelor’s degree or an associate’s degree or diploma in engineering.

·  He or she should have the required qualification of the related field of study from a certified college.

·  He or she needs to have a Post Graduate degree or a diploma in automobile engineering or any other related discipline.

·  He or she should have the 2 – 3 years of past working experience as a boiler engineer.

·  He or she should possess a valid license to work with stationary equipment.
