misweb Online Gradebook System mobile access
teacher instructions
The following page is a template for instructions that you can provide to your students for mobile web browser access to misweb. This misweb component is specifically designed for and tested on an iPhone, but should work in all web browsers, mobile or not.
Hint: For non-mobile web browsers (aka, your computer), you should omit the word “mobile” when you type the URL shown on the following page.
Before you give these instructions to your students, edit the following page to include the specific instructions for you and your class. You will need to edit only two lines: the two URLs that are shown:
1. substitute your COBILAN login id for “rpearson”
2. substitute some part of your online gradebook code for “bis1001”. This is the most difficult part of your editing of the instructions. You need to know what codes you used when you created your online gradebooks. You can use any part of a code as your substitute for “bis1001”, not necessarily the entire code, but you must specify enough to uniquely identify that gradebook. For instance, my actual codes for my first two online gradebooks are 2009FallBIS1001 and 2009FallBIS3523, but I gave the students in those two classes just “bis1001” and “bis3523”. The web page searches through the gradebook codes; the first one that matches the code in the URL will be pre-selected in the gradebook list. (This may be confusing, and is the most difficult part of your editing of the instructions.) The codes are not case-sensitive.
Make these two edits to the URLs, and you can give these instructions (the next page only) to your students.

A new feature in misweb providesyou withconvenient access to selected course technology through your mobile web browser. Youcan access your Online Grades page by typing a rather long URL (one time), then save a bookmark to that URL. Successive accesses will require little or no typing.
In your mobile device’s web browser, go to either of the following two URLs (substituting your netid for the word “netid” and your password for the word “password”):
Be sure to type a ? before the word “mobile”, not a slash.
This will take you to a login page, similar to the one shown to the right. When the login page loads in your browser, you cansave a bookmark to that page for fast access in the future. (On an iPhone or iPod Touch, tap the + sign at the bottom of the screen, and select the “Add to Home Screen” option. This will create an icon on your Home Screen that you can use in the future to quickly check your grades in this class. The sample Home Screen just below shows an example of the icon for BIS 1001.)
On the login page, if you used the first URL above, you will need to type your password into the password textfield; if you used the second URL, the entire form will be pre-filled, and you will simply tap the “Log in” button.
Upon logging in, you will see a concise version of the Online Gradebook System, with larger buttons, larger text, and no superfluous text (as shown to the right).
